POE

My fiance is flying into LAX from Ontario, Canada. We have the K-1 Visa approval still coming to us in the mail. What exactly do we need for the POE and is there anyone who is willing to share their experience? I've already read the POE reviews, but there wasn't much there...Help?

You will need passport with Visa attached, and the sealed brown immigrations envelope.

One thing coming from Canada, you may clear immigrations before getting on the plane in Canada rather than in LAX.

Will showing up at the airport 3 hours early be sufficient time for immigration? Usually with international flights they require 3 hours anyway, but should he go even earlier?

Just show up when you usually would for an international flight. As stated earlier, passport with visa, brown envelope and possibly the x-ray. Theres varied opinions regarding whether to bring the x-ray in checked or carry-on luggage. They would have to call a doctor to actually read the x-ray if they asked for it at immigration, but they are entitled to ask for it.

When my husband came through, he got in the slow lane, but the lady at immigration just flipped through the brown envelope, typed in whatever they need to type in and waved him through. No additional questioning. That was at Detroit from London. Congrats on being so close!
