WoW!!!! Thank you for sharing your story. I have been to Hong Kong twice. But, never out of the airport. The airport there was the best that I've ever seen!!!! So clean...and well kept!!!! I would love to see more of that great city someday. Gosh, I'll bet your phone bills were like mine 400-500 dollars a month. My fiancees internet connection is always terrible. Thank God for long distance telephone. I work overtime now....to help with extra costs....But, I love my honey....must keep in touch as much as possible. You are so right....Our relationship is forever!!!! Thanks for sharing.... :)

Yes, it is a great airport  The subway system is also very clean, and the taxis even have new-car smell :P Hong Kong is a wonderful place, you should definitely spend some time there

My first phone bill after meeting Lai was a nasty shock: $300+ for one phone call :help: After that, I found a phone service online that was only $.04 per minute to HK, and Lai had a phone service that was at least as good.

I miss my husband so much it is draining my soul. I haven't seen him in almost 2 years. I never expected this journey to take so long. Our time apart has made us depressed. We dont go a day without calling each other. On my days off of work we spend the whole day togeather online. But this is not the same as being with him. He is giving up hope that he will ever get his visa. I will be leaving in 14 days to go spend 5 weeks with him  Who know's maybe even longer. When I'm there I think we will start to talk about PLAN B, Because the thought of coming back to the U.S alone and not knowing when he will get a visa is too much to handle.

Wow.....two years....that's just criminal

I hope that you will be joined with your husband very soon. I'm happy that you will be re-united with him again very soon. 2 years is so long to be away from the one you love the most. Good Luck to you both!!!!

I'm missing my honey so much!!! I haven't seen her since May 3rd 2007. God, this is the most trying times. Remembering the times together we shared, and planning for the future. Crying on the phone. Just wondering when we will be united again...and finally be together forever.....Is anyone else feeling this same way too? This does not mean that you are pathetic or desparate....okay?

I feel the same way but look at the good thing you have your NOA2 it all down hill now.

I had and still have a realistic idea of this process, especially after lurking here and now posting for the past 5 months or so.

She's from China and that is a slow area. The fees were increasing, so I figured there would be a rush of filing and backlogs. I always add 1-3 months on top of the best time scenarios. USCIS is a bureaucracy and we know how that goes, even if there are a ton of good, kind, and efficient fellow Americans over there.

My last visit to China I took photos of her apartment, city, work place, friends, co-workers, the internet cafe, etc., so when we talk I at least have a good idea of where she is at, what it is like, and possibly who she is hanging around and can picture it in my mind.

I also tell myself I want to be married once and to the right person. I also want her to have a clear idea of what life is like in the US, what a huge change it will be coming here and leaving her known life behind, how the US isn't utopia and we're on a downward economic spiral.

Do I miss her? Of course. I think about her all the time, include her in all my planning, and wish we could date and be engaged like 'normal,' folks. The thing that angers me the most is the separation and not having the chance to enjoy life together as much before the wedding.

I also know when I visit next or when she arrives there should be this adjustment period where we have to learn to be physically together again.

I also studied human relations, love phases, hormonal and chemical changes in men and women in love and do what I can to strengthen our relationship, encourage her, reassure her, and learn about each other.

For some folks being on the phone or constantly emailing, messaging, etc., is the norm. Some folks go nuts after 2-4 weeks of being apart.

We only get in touch 2-4 times a week on average with random emails, weekly video conference times, random texts.

It works for us. She knows my schedule and daily routine and I know hers. We're both not the type to constantly say, "I miss you," "I love you," "How was your day," or other very common phrases between couples. I like having a gap of time between contact at times.

Absence makes the heart go fonder. If I didn't contact her or she didn't contact me for 1+ week I'd be worried.

Instead when we do talk I'm constantly joking, making her laugh, teasing her and I'm far more sparse on the sweet talk and do bring up things she should think about, to prepare for, and to have her tell me about how she sees our life together.

We also have special projects. For example I sent her the "1001 questions to ask before you get married," and we're both reading and answering them and comparing.

We write paper letters because it is nice to see handwriting, she practices written English, and this is evidence for later.

I send her care packages of chocolate, clothes, body lotion, pictures, and little gifts.

I do know what the OP is feeling and can relate. I was nuts in college over my girlfriend at the time. I lived in Northern California and she was a LA girl, so in summer we had 369 miles separating us. With her we talked daily, sometimes several times a day, wrote, and I'd visit and it was excruciating being in a long distance relationship like that.

However, we ended up in flames. All the sweet talk, promises, heart ache, longing, and pain of being apart changed and the heart ache of lost love took over.

Ironic how at that time I totally modified my dating and relationship habits, which I stick to today. Of course I also said I was never going to be in a long distance relationship and 369 miles was way, way too hard.

Now I'm in a LDR with 7000+ miles separation with a foreign national who is my fiancee. Go figure

Nobody's perfect and nobody can predict when, where, and with whom they fall in love.

Try to spend your time constructively. Learn more about your SO and hope she learns about you. Don't promise the world and realize that if all the good you believe about your SO and your relationship is real, then the wait is well worth it.

Yeah, I miss her a lot everyday, that's about all I can say about that though. Good news is we pick vacation at work this month and January - March aren't usually popular months with the guys with seniority so hopefully I can get 2 - 4 weeks in winter to go see her..then by June she should be here if everything goes right :)

Feel better mate, not everyone has the "privilege" of having their love tested in this way, if you can make it through all of this, you're stronger than most.
