We got a stamp in passport the Temporary permanante residence stamp good for one year.

What I want to know is do you have to file any papers to get the perm. res. card or just wait???

They also said 3 weeks we'd get ss# card been 5 weeks??

You should receive a card in the mail in a month or so. The I-551 stamp makes your passport into a temp green-card allowing work and travel.

Give SSA 30 days to send out the card, if you dont get it then visit SSA office and order a new SSN card.

Also is this a CR-1/IR-1 visa question not a K-3 questions? K-3 visa holders do not get I-551 stamp, so this should not have been posted to the K-3 forum.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

No, SSA office (Social Security Administration) won't give you anything. @ SSA office you only apply for SSN & SS card.

The actual green card is automatic - gets sent by CIS. It comes to the address they have on record for agent - you know, the one you specified when you filled out the I130. You should expect it any day by USPS.

Nicole,

My husband entered the US on 10/02 and we still haven't received anything, no Welcome to America letter, no green card and no social. We called the USCIS, they transferred us a few times until the last person told us that his info was not in their system yet and that we should give it another 3-4 weeks. It's been 5 already. But until they enter this info in their system the SSA cannot issue a SS #.

You should call the USCIS to find out if this is your case or not. If your husband's info is already in the system then you're good to go to the SSA office to get him a SS #.
