When to go to medical?

Our papers have only been sitting in CA for 4 weeks,so this may be a little early.but I would like to know whether we can do the medical BEFORE we have NOA2??

I saw on here the other day that someone (from Germany) got their NOA2 on 10/17 and the Interview was scheduled already for 11/17 (and Jesus they were complaining and wanted it postponed.....Gosh I'd be so happy if that happened to us).

So since we will probably be approved (hopefully!) by early Feb I was thinking about getting the Medical done around early Feb.

Any suggestions?

I can only tell you what we did.

I was in Jakarta last month, visiting with Nitadyah. While I was there we visited the Embassy, and had a pre-screen (called a document review) of our Packet 3 documents. While we were there, they gave us the list of doctors and the forms.

The medical is good for a year. The downside risk is that the embassy gets the results directly and they can get lost in the interim.

Approval by early February? If us October filers are going to get approved that early then sweet!!! According to the Timeline here though it will be mid-March so don't get too excited.

All the best though and hopefully we will be cleared with no RFE's or other nasty surprises.

I would seriously not do it just yet.

The medical exam is valid for one year only starting from the date it was done.

I friend of mine had it done before she had NOA2,it is possible but I would not do it to be totally honest.

I know you probably cant wait, but I would at least wait until NOA2.

In fact I had mine done when my case was at the NVC.

No, you need to wait until your petition has been approved. I suggest you read the Step No. 11 of the K-1 Flowchart

The Consulate will provide you with a list of phsycians that are authorized to perform medical exams.

Throughout this process you'll learn one thing.. you can not do much planning ahead because processing times are so variable, that you just cant tell for sure when you'll get approved, you might got a RFE (hopefully not!) and after you get approved your case could take longer than you thought to get to the NVC (lately it's been taking over 1 month).

I know you're anxious and what to do things as quick as possible but we don't have much choice during this journey than to be patient and wait.

Good luck!

How did you know which doctors were authorized by the Consulate? Are all doctors authorized in Germany to perform medical exams for this type of immigration process?

Just curious :)

In my case I must present the appointment letter for medical exam, so there is no way I could have done it before getting the packet from the Consulate.

Because you can look it up online, there are 4 or 5 differant doctors offices in differant towns in Germany who do it.

I don't really think it'll be March. They only have to get through the insane amount of July Petitions and then there's (in comparison) not that many petitions for August,Sep,and October. As far as an RFE goes, doubt it but with them you never know.Guess I'll just have to wait until NOA2 and the stress about everything.I hate this not being able to plan ahead. It's driving me up the walls...........

I hear ya ... we have our wedding booked for 11th Oct 2008 and while I know it's ages away we feel we are running in sand until we get this stuff sorted. As soon as we get NOA2 we can put house on the market etc but until then ... plus we are expecting a RFE cos we didn't sign and date the additional info page for question 13 on the I-129F. Doh!!!
