as i mentioned earlier ... i filed AOS in april 07 without work permit app. my case got transfered to CA and its been almost 7 months now (way longer then i expected .. to those ppl that are waiting too <hopefully not many> i know it sucks lol)

so here i am trying to gather all the info on how to file i 765 so i can finally get SNN and get my ####### outa the house

i came acorss this I-131 (advance parole? doesnt that make it sound like im some kinda of criminal but anyway) and wondered how to file and wat are the requirements... i tried to read the instructions over and over .. rather confusing

does anyone have an idea of how to file this thing?

does it have to be an emergency?

could i send the advance parole thingy in the same envelope as my work permit app?

ok, you kind of mixed it all up, I-765 and I-131 are two completely separate applications. I-131 is to allow you to leave the US while your status is being adjusted. Remember, you should NEVER use it if you were in the US ilegally in the past, because upon leaving you might be subjected to a 3 to 10 year bar from the US. And no, it is not only for emergencies, but in case of emergencies they will issue it faster if you bring them proof that you must be home ASAP.

Yes, you send both the I-131 and I-765 applications to the Chicago Lockbox. Attach a copy of your I-485 NOA as supporting documents to both applications.

I wouldn't advise sending in the I-765 now. We did that seperately and it ended up not meaning a darn thing. The green card came in 4 months and it was a waste of money to file it. Plus, we had to do 2 biometrics, one for each form. Waste of time. We did Chicago too.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Yes, if you want to apply for AP and EAD now, long after you've filed for AOS (in April, I think you said), you will have to pay the new fees for filing for AP & EAD:

EAD - $340

AP - $305

If you had filed after July 30 (with the fee increase), you would only have had to attach your NOA for your AOS to the forms. Unfortunately, you're going to get hit with the fee increase for these individual filings.

Good luck.
