I don't know what boards you go on, but every one I have been on has mods that you can report abuse of TOS. OK, so I guess it is a free for all. Do what you want, say what you want.

***I see he either removed his comment or someone else decided to do so.

we do have mods you can report abuse to.. their names are "Lal and mags". if you have a problem PM them the link to the thread....

I honestly think that with Yodrak's departure (is that permanent?), we need another moderator or two, just so that LaL and Mags can share their load of responsibility, unless they are cool with how things stand right now.

We're cool. :star:

Fair enough, I remove my request. :)

There's nothing to say that this might not change in the future though. So, VJ Troll, please stand by. :P

Yeah, I can't say it any more than I have already. :D

I'm pretty sure it's against TOS for a mod to tease a lowly member like myself. Who do I PM to report you?

Just to be clear though, Jamie - there are TWO report buttons. The one that will alert the mods is in the drop down menu when you click once over the poster's name, right below the praise button. :)

Incorrect. You have to PM us to report a member. The drop down box is a separate entity.

I had to go through this thread to find it, but this part is what I was basing the above statement on...

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=1313171

....

Perhaps you meant just the 'praise' button alerts you Mods but not the 'report' button in the drop down menu, but in any case, is this something that Captain Ewok can change so that you are being alerted not just on members being praised but also being reported? As a Mod, how do you feel about it?

...

Also, I just want to add that I didn't post this thread as a knock at you or Laura. I think my string of threads here in the Suggestions Forum have been consistently about finding solutions to what I think a good number of members see as real problems. I was hoping to make the job of moderator easier, while making this environment here friendly for everyone to post without fear of ridicule. :)

Ahh, I get you. Okay, the praise/report member thing isn't something we can just "see". We get a report from the admin of the stats.

Does that include the people who have strong opinions? Because I see potshots in this thread on them aplenty.

I think sometimes, Steven, >>>IMO<<< many 'solutions' you have come up with in this forum are like recreating the wheel, only somehow wayyy more complicated. What is the best answer in this case? Ignore it, deal with it yourself, or PM a mod. No one >>>IMO<<< should be calling for public admonishments...or a leaderboard of 'who's done what to whom', or anything else like that. As evidenced in this thread even, sometimes ppl misunderstand posts and take them as insults....and the 'bully' label gets thrown around a little too losely. We're all adults, can't we work it out without having to develop any 'Bully Preventing Units'?

We just need to trust the mods to do their 'job'.

That's it. The majority of VJ have spoken :P;)

While I'm honoured, I'm afraid that a) it would never happen, and 3) Half of the board would be banned immediately.

Platy doesn't put up with any sh!t.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

We could use a mod like that. 2 "nice ladies" and a pit bull. If ya don't listen to the nice little ladies, you get mauled.

I think somebody should get ahold of bholiday, ask him to come back, and make a mod out of him.

I was thinking Marc of CarolandMarc :P

In theory there’s absolutely no reason why we should not be able to work out our problems as adults… in theory… but occasionally that simply doesn't happen. While many people here are far from blameless as to things they’ve said in the past or the way they’ve acted towards other people (myself included)– I think as adults we should be able to draw a line under things and move on, without things turning into some sort of perpetual vendettas, or a constant game of petty one-upmanship between a couple of members that sours everyone’s experience of the forums.

I do think the mods are needed here – perhaps we don’t need more of them, but I do think that we need more active moderation to curtail a lot of the petty bickering which IMO derails too many of the threads and serves no purpose whatsoever. The mods have even indicated as much on other threads here (specifically the illegal immigration ones) that a tougher approach is called for to curtail bad behaviour. As I see it, if people behave like adults - and we all the capacity to do so, then there won’t be a problem; but childishness and petty protracted personal squabbles should be stepped on. IMO of course.
