Come on now Joe, get real, you are dealing with the federal government here! WHY do anything logical or practical like send you to the nearest police station to have prints done. Why are you kidding. That makes too much sense.

Get prepared to be sent to your nearest local USCIS field office to have that done, in other words time off from work and expense to travel. They are all using this new laser scanner for their prints now, so their computers are not able to accept and read the old style ink prints done by hand at police stations.

But I agree with you why not go to the local police station and then have local police mail in your cards for you after a small postage fee, makes too much sense I suppose.
