Hi all, Jena got a pink paper asking for the I-797 Notice of Action on Form I-129F today. Can someone explain what they are asking for? I have a copy of the letter sent to me stating the following, is this the one they want? It doesn't say I-797 on it anywhere.

Dear, XXXXXXX, Jenalyn XXXXXX

This office is ready to begin final processing of the immigrant visa applicant name below in this case. Wh have scheduled an appointment for a visa interview etc. etc.

Visa Appointment Medical Appointment

Date Time Date Time

I swear I sent them a copy of this letter. Is this the one they are asking for?

Thanks for any help.

I believe that is just the letter from the consulate?

What you need is the approval letter from your I-129F, looks like this:

They're asking for the NOA2 that USCIS mailed out to you after they approved your I-129F. It's necessary for AOS, as it's proof that it qualifies you for adjustment of status after marriage.

If you don't have it or somehow lost it, you can always order another copy from USCIS, but they'll charge you a hefty fee for it.

Thanks sooo much.

That explains the problem. I feel so stupid now.

Should I make a copy and send them the original?

Your NOA2 should say (I-797C) in the corner. Just send them a photocopy. It shows that the person used the K-1 correctly (married the USC who petitioned, which is the basis for adjusting status.)

Caladan, the I-797C is the 1st notice of receipt.

I-797 is the Approval Notice.

I have them both here in my hand.

You need to send them a copy of the Approval Notice... the NOA2.
