IR1 / CR1 - Montreal Timeline to Interview

I read that somewhere on that new site - that you shouldn't schedule your own appt until you got your letter from Montreal because although the website would let you schedule an interview, it wouldn't be recognized by the consulate without that letter (or something like that)

We do need to be a bit careful, because it may be possible to schedule an interview through the new system even without permission from NVC...but if you haven't had permission from NVC, your case file WILL NOT HAVE BEEN SENT FROM NVC TO MTl; thus, you could show up for the interview, and they wouldn't even have the file. So obviously they'd send you away and that would suck. So, do beware.

This is my best understanding at this point of the working of the new system. Do keep in mind that I only learned it existed yesterday!

Oh, I guess DCFers don't need permission from NVC, but I would think they would need permission from...DoS? the consulate? I'm not so clear on the situation for DCF.

I would call the dos or NVc before using this new system, as mtlgato has said it is new and they must "know who you are"

Well said mtlgato, that's what I was trying to say in my earlier post because I can't imagine anything more heartbreaking than showing up to the consulate, thinking you have a legit appt, spending alot of money to get there only to find out that you really don't.

Wow! It's been a big couple of days!!! I'm so happy for everyone who's been scheduled. Those of us in this most recent group have been *particularly* hard-hit by delays, so I think we all deserve an extra big congrats!!!! (That said, in my own special case I'm still not 100% sure the new date is for real...I'll try getting confirmation from DoS sometime next week maybe).

For those of you still waiting, I'm pretty hopeful that the new system will make for a much better experience for you. It would seem that it's been a rough transition, but I think things will start working better soon. I don't expect that wait times will just magically get completely reasonable, but maybe you won't have to go through what the May NVC case complete people went through!

Yes I updated, musi, and jeremy timelines as I am super excited.

HEY YOU!!

I will be the little chick with the wide awake son standing outside the consulate at 630am :P see you there

Not sure I wanted to know that too?

Hi Canadiandggal! I just self-booked my appointment, same day as you. :)

The online scheduling dealie actually states that you have an appointment time, and not to show up at the consulate any earlier than 20 minutes before that time. The times I could choose from were 8am, 8:30am, 9am.

So, yay! No waiting outside in inclement weather.

Does anyone know who member "w3" is? This member is in our timeline spreadsheet but I cannot find this member on VisaJourney at all. Whoever it is is likely getting their interview date today as well.

okay so I clicked the link www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov, under the "Interview Preparation" link from my interview letter and somewhere in there it talks about having to sign up with dhl to have your visa delierved. so i am tired and cannot really focus but I am confused as to whether we still need to buy a envelope or not. ??

I figured it out. CAN2US was missing. I think that someone accidentally typed "w3" and changed CAN2US's name. Fixed!
