No interview for me today....I called this morning and Lewis told me they weren't scheduling October interviews until after September 15...even though I told him there were people already scheduled for October he proceeded to tell me again nothing being booked until after Sept 15, I just said okay whatever and hung, its a waste of my time to even call. Praying for tomorrow to hear something..I pray all of us May people get one.

Ugh. So frustrating. I hate it when they say stuff you KNOW isn't true. The NVC operators are THE WORST for that. I try to assume that it's out of genuine ignorance rather than just LYING. But I definitely get upset when it seems like these people who are ostensibly hired to *help* us and give us information are actually there just to get in the way. I have never once had any genuine HELP from an NVC operator.

Not to mention that this is a service that we have all paid for. You would think that if they are charging us for this process there would be at least a little bit of customer service provided by them.

Honestly, if they don't speed up *significantly* soon, the backlog is just going to get so bad that it will be beyond ridiculous. It's ridiculous already.

Well, as of today, the "summer holidays" excuse is officially OVER.

Speaking of the NVC and bad info, they told me that when I go to MTL I just have to show intent to provide domicile, not actually have any proof. When I told the rep at the NVC that I'm hearing from real people who are telling of their interviews in MTL where proof of domicile was manditory, she responded that intent to provide domicile was what she had been told. hmph!

DAMN I am sooo sorry Mtlgato, but congrats anyone else who got a date. You know that is ridiculous in your case though, they should really have considered you and they better not screw with you when you ask for another date! You make a stink mtl! :)

The thing is that they really don't care...it's just administrative stuff and there are thousands of people applying and getting interviews. While each individual may care about someone's situation the overall machinery of beaurocracy doesn't....so if you can't make the interview for whatever reason, you reschedule and move to the back of the line.

It's a really tough situation for MTLgato....hopefully she can make the interview but man that's so close and like she said, there are no guarantees the baby will arrive on schedule.

Good luck there.

I think making your voice heard to the local congressman or woman wouldn't hurt, given the special circumstances.

Good luck to all !! I'm glad that there is some movement in the process and interviews are happening !!

I am still not going to hold my breathe, they seem to have made one step forward and stopped again haha. I am sooo tired of waiting and yet I cannot get my mind off waiting. Haha Maybe within the next few weeks I will hear something, but the fact that no one ahead of me has heard anything yet makes me doubt it.

I am Jacquies husband and the lack of information from the nvc is uncalled for. I sent them an email telling them that is is embarrassing as a us citizen how they treat people on the phone, and to show some decency by posting up to date information so that we can at least know what is going on.

Well, good for you. I think these complaints probably carry more weight coming from the USC spouse. I have a feeling, though, that complaining to NVC might not be as effective as complaining to someone at DoS who actually has authority. Hilary herself, perhaps?

Btw, as bad as communication with NVC is, communication with the consulate in Montreal is worse. How are they allowed not to answer their phone? How is that ok? Even worse: while they claim to answer email within 2 weeks (bad enough), in practice they take 4-6 weeks or more (!!!) Who here has ever had a job where that was an acceptable turnaround? I usually get in trouble if I take more than 24 hours to answer email. I don't know who's at fault for the communication problems. I'm sure they have good people there. But we know there's a big problem--AND WE KNOW IT'S BEEN A PROBLEM FOR A LONG TIME.

Are the consulates under the general umbrella of DoS? I think so. I think we should write to Hilary Clinton. I'm serious.

Oh, I'm well aware of the extent to which they don't care. It's abundantly clear. The congresswoman's staff also apparently does not care. However, I'm trying a new tack with the elected officials now. We'll see. Plus, maybe the baby will still come a bit early (?) I doubt it, but maybe...

Just please: nobody give me any more medical advice re: induction or c-sections. I have plenty of medical info.

Thanks to anyone who has wished me well...

What?? The best site to get medical info is an immigration site! Come on!! lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
