Take his recent pay stubs for sure. I also did that. Has he gotten his w2 for last year yet? If so take a copy of that as well.

But I;m like dead last in March lol. They didn't ask you for any tax information? Maybe because we didn't do EP...hmm.
Ughh. D: The army is really lame about that. It took me 3 months to get an employment letter for NVC...do you think Paystubs, um, bank statements (printed from the internet) would do? :s

Who knows if it is an EP thing or not. :\ But nope, no question about tax information or income proof.

I would definitely say that recent paystubs and bank statements showing recurring deposits would be plenty.

Montreal: BEAT!!! Approved!!!!!

Anyways, I am a management student here in canada on a student visa and my convocation is 20th May. I am already done with the requisite courses and need your advice as to whether i need to take my official transcripts or a letter from school saying that i will be done with my MBA in April and have took all the required courses to graduate. Or just a verbal confirmation should do?

Just curious if my student status in canada has any bearing on my application which i guess wont be the case.

Thanks

Gladiator,

Yes, you should take any proof you have that you intend to finish up your studies here and move to the U.S. - you are going to need proof of reestablishing domicile.

But I;m like dead last in March lol. They didn't ask you for any tax information? Maybe because we didn't do EP...hmm.

U.S. taxes aren't due until April 15th or so. So in theory you should not be asked for it. EP/no EP - it doesn't seem to have any bearing on it. It all depends on the officer on the day, however it is still early for people to have filed for 2009.

It also depends what you sent to NVC, did you send only the 2008 return or did you send 06, 07 and 08? If you sent all three, that's all you can do, if you only sent the last one, then you should take the other two as well.

Thanks everyone! I'm so excited to go to Montreal--I get to meet my baby nephew (sister lives there).

I'm just researching my travel options right now. Do they issue the visa the same day? I'm wondering if it's a smart idea to do the interview in the morning (interview scheduled at 8:00am) and depart for the airport at 5:00pm? Or should I depart the next day?

you are going to need proof of reestablishing domicile.

I am sorry trailmix, i was not able to explain myself properly. My wife is the petitioner and has a US domicile, job, apartment etc so its not a question of reestablishing domicile. However i am the benificiary and am currently on a student visa in canada about to graduate in April. However i have completed the course requirements of the degree already.(20 may-convocation).

Anyways as u put it, i would take a letter from school that i am graduating in April end along with the official transcrpits. I was also wondering whether my student status in canada has any bearing on my case or the interview?

No they do not issue the visa the same day. The 8 am is the time everyone gets, it's first come first serve.

Congrats on getting your interview date.

For what it's worth, my letter says 8 am :)

OK, I found a link to a rental agreement: http://www.thelpa.com/free/rental.pdf. What do you think?

Also, with regards to co-sponsor--is the # for the poverty level my co-sponsor's family + 1 (i.e. just for my husband), or is it for my co-sponsor's family + my family (me, husband, two kids)? We are only applying for his green card, the rest of us are US citizens.

Thanks SOOOO much everyone for your help! Edmontongirl
