ok guys and girls, I am all set I think, I hope. I will definitely post my review. as far as establishing domicile here is some stuff I am using:

Approximate insurance quote for our vehicles

our compliance letters for our vehicles

a letter from relatives stating we will be staying with them, mind you we did find a home to rent

I am using a letter I recieved from my employer after I told them my husbands interview was monday

they wrote me a letter stating they are aware that I am returning to the U.S. and will be giving me 2 letters of reference instead of the standard one.

The information I recieved from the SC dept of health for my childrens immunizations

Our rental agreement on the home we are going to rent

The ABF quote I got in August and the ABF quote I did yesturday

U-Haul quote (I don't know which one to use yet, we aren't sure)

Proof of u.s. bank account in area near where we are moving

experience letter from our insurance company

I PRAY THAT IS ENOUGH, I dont know what else to use...lol

...and yes, EXTREMELY NERVOUS My husband is ok though...lol :wacko::blush::blush::crying::crying::blink::blink::star:

Hi americana,

That looks pretty good. You mention you found a place to rent, are you just waiting to get the visa before committing to it? Have you exchanged emails with the person who would lease it?

Lately Montreal has put a lot of emphasis on a 'proper' lease, even with relatives - so if you can get one before Monday it might be a good idea. (Doesn't have to be anything too fancy!)

I assume your children are U.S. citizens, did you have to document that with a report of birth abroad? If so that might be something to take as well. What about schools for your kiddies, have you looked at that or inquired about that, so you might have an email from one?

Anyway, not saying your proof will fly or not - in any way, just thought I would throw a few ideas out there.

If anyone finds a link online of a good, basic, 'official' lease, can you post it, please?

Mal,

Try this site: http://www.ilrg.com/forms/lease.html It lists all 50 states. I just breezed over it, I didn't really read everything...

We are commited to the rental the landlord is aware of what we are going through and made it an open lease til we go through immigration.

We have the info for the childrens school but they aren't enrolled yet because its a private school. We have actually had a tour and everything when we went down there. The admissions dept said to wait til we get down there because of the unknown move date( when we go to Montreal and sell our home)

Our children are U.S. citizens born abroad and they also have thier passports and SS cards so hopefully that will be enough.

The only reason we havent put our home for sale yet is because the last time we sold our home it sold in 4 hours with a 30 day closing and with not knowing when our appt was until 2 weeks ago we couldnt take that chance. We already have 2 people wanting to look at our home and its not listed yet. We are listing it as soon as we get the ok from Montreal. We also have pictures. Another thing I hope they consider is we have been together since 93' and married since 95'. I guess we will have to see...

Oh, well if you have anything at all in writing from the landlord, even an email, that would be great. You toured the school, did they give you any brochures? Write an email to your thanking you for touring or anything?

I would also mention that as soon as you get the visa you are selling your home, that's great proof as well.

I was wondering, does the Montreal consulate accept debit or credit cards for the visa fee (our IR-1 interview is Feb 10) or is it a cash only affair?

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but there is no fee at the consulate for an IR-1 as that was included in your fees to the NVC. Only K-1's have a fee at the interview....

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but there is no fee at the consulate for an IR-1 as that was included in your fees to the NVC. Only K-1's have a fee at the interview....

Okay that sounds right actually. I just wasn't sure. A lot of reviews I read even of IR-1 people mentioned paying a fee for something at the consulate I just assumed it was the visa fee. Is it for fingerprinting or something or am I just out to lunch?

The $400 IV bill covers that. K1s don't pay that bill so they pay at the interview is my understanding.
