Step up again, like they did 2 years ago - yes?

Despite all the talk about picking things up now, etc, I haven't seen any improvement at all.

It's true. Unless there has been a large number of non-VJ CR-1ers getting processed, the numbers look painfully low, despite recent assurances that things would pick up.

Call it Stockholm Syndrome, but I really empathize with Montreal consulate now. I mean, I KNOW it's not really their fault. It must be on a higher level and they're just doing what they can.

Doesn't make it any less disheartening though.

No I agree, the actual staff at the Montreal consulate are not to blame. It is the total disinterest of whomever is running that show, ie: whomever sets staffing levels - and whomever it is that made/makes the decision to only have one interviewing office, for CR1/IR1 petitions, in Canada.

In fact, since we are talking about this.....I found it unusual that Paul M. mentioned that it hurts their feelings when someone calls 'them' an a-hole etc. We realize, when we discuss this, that it is not the staff on the ground doing the work that has any control over this. While many refer to all problems with this consulate as 'Montreal' - it certainly does not mean that we are too dim to realize that the staff employed there have no control over staffing issues.

That said, there is still the whole issue of reestablishing domicile, which irks me. I did email Paul M. and asked him for clarification and to date have not received a reply. This issue is not being addressed in Montreal. Why on earth they would want unsuspecting interviewees to walk in there only to be slammed - I have no idea.

Welllll...some folks around here have blamed "Montreal" in general, and I think that's what seems hurtful to those doing their best at the consulate. It's just that most people need a focus for their ire, and since the Montreal Consulate is the location of the interview that takes forever to be scheduled...they become that focus, and wrongfully so.

Many of us have written letters to the higher levels, but seemingly to no avail. I guess those of us who are Canadian just have to put up with it. U.S. Citizens might have a bit more leverage with their letters though. Us Canadians are coming from a weaker approach since we're just immigration hopefuls.

I'm not sure...everything submitted has been paper-based so far. We paid the fees online. Does that count as electronic processing?

Nope...Electronic Processing is a separate beast that you would have had to "opt in" to.
