After going thru the wait for our interview, my educated guess would be that your chances of getting a Jan interview are likely slim.

DOWN with the dissenter!

:protest:

As much as I hate to agree with "the dissenter" he's very likely right. From what I've observed the last few months since our case was complete that has been the case. There is a sudden flood of interviews scheduled and then that's it. Crickets...

We're going to try a one month visit with my wife coming back with me from Ottawa. What is frustrating is that the practical reality is so far from the official reality. On the practical side she doesn't give two cents about her job and she's just staying with some good friends of ours for the short wait through to the interview and I'm basically paying for everything. No problem. The official reality, even though she's immigrating very soon, is that she needs to prove solid ties to a country she is leaving permanently in a very short time (very short compared to how long we've waited so far :) ). It seems like a catch-22. You need to remain the CEO of a major Canadian corporation and own three housing projects right up until the very last day, then abandon it all, or they will grill the daylights out of you (depending on the POE and the officer you talk to of course - most are decent people just doing their job but some are downright a-holes on a power trip).

Sorry to be a downer but like trailmix said this isn't the optimism thread :) After almost a year of this process I think we've earned the right to be just a wee bit bitter and vent a tad. End rant :P

Oh, I know...I was half-joking when I lodged my emoticonical protest.

I like to pretend that things are getting better and that I've got a good chance of getting a January interview date. Deep down I know it's really not likely. I always want to give the Consulate the benefit of the doubt and buy in to the assertion that things are improving there. I know that history has shown otherwise though.

You know, part of me is still a little miffed at SierraTangos zippy flying through the interview process. I know each case is unique and all but it would have been really nice if he/she had come back to give us a bit more information and such. I just wonder how some people are at 170 days waiting and he/she got a 47 day?

Totally inappropriate wondering and such I know but just wondering...

I've heard Trailmix say that there's more to that story...that he actually filed something in 2008 or something like that.

I'm more miffed that he never came back to elaborate on the Electronic Processing thread. :(

I'll elaborate on the EP process. It sucks!! Nothing is different than it takes longer. It took me 2 months to get through NVC and the average is 1 month. Half the time you call them they don't even know your file is in the EP process. You have to say it is or the operator has know idea how to answer your questions. BAhhh!!

Totally disagree. It only took me 28 days, and that was with an RFE. :)

Just a different perspective on the process, I guess.

Well, as for Sierratango, while it appears that he flew through the process in looking at his actual timeline from start to finish - he didn't really.

He got his NOA1 January 8th - he got hung up there and contacted his congressperson, after that contact his I-130 was finally approved after 7 months.

So from NOA1 to interview, for him - 278 days

Now if we look at lgg's timeline - that same process took 307 days.

So while it looks like Sierra flew through, in fact his application only took 29 days less than yours froggie.

Here is my theory. The fact that he got his congressperson involved might have enabled him to get an interview scheduled quicker - also, since he was doing electronic processing someone was looking at those dates and that might have enabled him to get an interview scheduled a bit faster. Anyway, it's just a theory.

Ya your right Wyatt. The inconsistency is very bothersome at times. Maybe one of these days I'll post something on the optimism thread you have going. Might be a few years though.

You know trails, I was thinking about this just the other day -- we ALL get bunged up on one part of the process or another We were really average at NVC, FLEW though NVC and were delayed at interview time. And all in all? 10 months to process a CR1 is a pretty average to say the least.

And look at Malr, she only spent 9 days at USCIS but was SO held up at NVC for her processing that she's only just started waiting for an interview. So, all in all, it seems to balance out a bit, if I may say. It's easier now to see this now that I'm not so chomping at the bit.

But for as far as I can tell, no one, not a single person has been either held up at every stage or flown through every stage so....

Hope this makes a bit of sense. I'd always told myself that this COULD take up to a year so, the fact is, it'll have taken 10 months and that's not really anything to complain about.

It's easy to complain when you're at the stage of the process where you get held up, as I did in the interview process...

:)

:)

So the yin and yang of the U.S. immigration process :hehe:

Mal got an RFE or two, so did we - we also probably would have flown through NVC - but I was just winging it and they asked for stuff I wasn't expecting - so from start to finish it took us almost exactly 11 months.

Oh and it is a fact that if you get a congressperson involved at USCIS it does speed things up for that part of the process, we used to have a former adjudicator here and he stated that. Now, what effect that has further down the road, who knows, maybe that file stays flagged as 'priority'?
