I am not trying to judge your actions, I am trying to understand the statements you have made (agreeing emphatically with GEG in this instance)

If you are saying that in fact being legal is just a 'preference' that you have, then, you know, fine and dandy, that's your preference.

If however as it appeared to me, your statement was an application of a standard then it is you that is making a judgment on people who have a relationship with an illegal alien.

Ultimately, what you or I think about other people's relationships is of course totally irrelevant, but if you are engaging in a message board discussion and you make an apparently judgmental statement, do you not expect that people might challenge your point of view?

I have no idea what this statement means if it's not a judgment on character, with illegals and those people who fall in love with illegals being found wanting in this respect

what would you tell him? I love you but we can't get married, because I'd be enabling you. I guess the other people here that married an illegal had that question.. care about 'soverignity' or about my happiness..

You are kidding right? You think just because you love someone you should be able to be here illegally???? I had to spend a long effing time away from my husband, whom I love and adore, so we could do this completely LEGALLY. At no point was he illegal or out of status. We had to scrimp and save and agonize over ever moment apart, and over ever dollar immigration would cost us - but we did it LEGALLY! Love is not a justification for illegal immigration anymore than seeking a better way of life. Give me a freaking break.

If anyone wants into the USA, they have no right, at all, to enter this country in a manner that is not legal. There is no justification in my mind for illegal immigration. You want to say life is so hard and unbearable in another country - then become a refugee. There is no circumstance I can fathom where illegal immigration is okay or acceptable or wanted by Average Joe Tax Paying American OR Average Joe Tax Paying Permanent Resident.

Just as there is no circumstance in my mind where you are so hungry you must steal bread - there are ALWAYS LEGAL ALTERNATIVES and for anyone to suggest otherwise is ludicrous in this day and age. I am so sick of this "put a love heart on the world" bleeding heart mentality. No one deserves to be GIVEN anything. You work hard, you work long, and that is the only way you get anything. If you cannot handle legal immigration or entering the USA in a legal manner - YOU DO NOT BELONG HERE - period!

tell that to the people that married illegal immigrants and fixed their paperwork, tell them if you dare, how their husbands/wives initially didn't belong him..

fyi, they had to go through the paperwork, as you, and me, probably even more, so is not that they skipped steps to do so

besides, got the initial paperwork in less than a year? cry me a rive, there's people with longer processing times, and they don't even complain..

and u didn't answer the question, if you've met ur SO and he was illegal, would you turn him away, or try to fix his paperwork?? or HE DOESNT BELONG HERE?

Why in God's name would I associate myself with anyone doing anything illegal? Maybe it was 7 years in Girl Scouting, but I'm far too good for that...I would never find myself in such a situation so the question is ridiculous, as is the sentiment that love is a legitimate reason to break the law. And so sorry it took me more than 4 minutes to answer your question...I don't camp the forums to troll.

As is the proposition that 'illegality' can somehow be detected without knowing anything else about the person.

I don't think anyone has actually said that love is an 'excuse' for doing something illegal. Most people who find themselves attached romantically to an illegal alien try to gain legitimacy for their spouse, at least that is my understanding.

Ok, now I really have no idea what that means. I asked you a couple of questions to try to understand things that you posted. You choose not to answer them, that's fine, I didn't throw a hissy fit demanding my questions be answered. Honestly, I really don't mind. However, to somehow make out that everything I have written is intrusive and inappropriate is well, frankly ridiculous, in my opinion.
