To elope at "city hall" or the court or whatever - do they ever schedule the couple same week, or how long in advance do they need?

If I cause offense it is not on purpose, think about that before you take offense. If you feel offended, consider that maybe I'm not talking about you and maybe I accidentally stumbled onto a sore area and do not know. Thank you.

That's really dependent on the individual state law for the marriage license, as well as the individual city halls or courts. There is no blanket answer for that.

Well, say specifically Virginia within 20 miles of Washington DC. Writing a story about a stupid person who starts with a small lie and it builds up into a large one. I want my details right.

Basically I'm asking do you think it's possible that in this area that a couple can find a court to marry them within a few days. No crazy Elvis chapel elopement. Normal quick marriage.

Of course in protecting her lies in this way, she is only going to cause more trouble than if she was truthful to begin with :devil:

Here in FL, they will do it the same day at a courthouse. You need to have a marriage license first, which is a 3 day wait. They will waive the 3 days if a judge or minister signs off on it.
