Hi,

Originally my family came from Vietnam. I'm in the process of being sponsored by my Aunt, to prove this relationship (since all our family documents were lost when we left Vietnam) I need to contact the Vietnamese local authority for the family household register (ho Khau), which I would be able to use as evidence. Can anyone guide me through how to do this? I have no family in Vietnam who can help and my immediate family are not sure either.

Has anyone done something similar?

Thanks in advance

I don't think Aunts and Uncles can petition for niece or nephews.

Who May Not File This Form I-130?

8. A grandparent, grandchild, nephew, niece, uncle, aunt, cousin or in-law.

You can be sponsored by "Fiancee, Spouse, Mother, Father, Sister or Brother"

Thanks for your reply, although I'm using this website specifically for US immigration, I will be applying to Australia for migration. There are few website forums that I know of which I think will help with my case. I have read a few posts that members here that have dealt with the information I am looking for.
