interview yesterday

We had our aos interview yesterday. It all was very smooth and easy, we were only asked for a few pieces of information to prove our relationship. We had everything we were asked for. It was very relaxed and the officer was very nice. What is confusing is we were not told whether we were approved or not. We were only told that if we were approved that we would receive the green card in the mail within 7-10 days. If we were not approved we would receive a denial letter. Is this usual? Our case is really straight forward and we have never had any glitches. They also did not take my i-94 and when i asked the officer at the front desk she told me if we were approved we would receive an approval letter and would have to go back and bring them the i-194, Anyone else have this kind of experience? I guess I am just wondering why he didn't say if we were approved or not because most the the interviews that I read about say that they are told at the time of the interview.

Well, that seems odd to me, too. But hey...your case is straightforward. You'll get that green card in 7-10 days, I know it.

Did you have a man or a woman? Do you recall the name? We had a guy and I think his first name was Doug or something. I dunno. His office was kinda bare, it was the 1st one when you walk through the door. And he had some photos of trees or land on his wall to the left. Hmmm. Let us know when you get the card.

If they were going to issue a denial, whatever it was.. they would've asked for more evidence more than likely.. seems to me like an approval, and isn't that kind of fast for a green card to be sent? I've seen some people say it takes 2-3 months ?

We had a man.the last office in the hall. We just found it strange that he didn't say approved or not. I know i shouldn't worry cause the interview seemed to go fine. i guess it is just my nature to worry .yikes!

I am a worrier, too! You'll get it, though. I just have a feeling.

They told us 7-10 days, too. Must be a Des Moines thing. Or else they're lying. Hahaha.

2 weeks is pretty typical; I got the approval letter about 10 days after the interview.

I think, from our experiences, that not all of them want to say for sure whether you're approved or not, just to scare you a little Perhaps also they are not authorized to make that decision. Their checklist has to go on to someone with more authority.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long.

As I recall at my interview, the officer said that everything looked fine to her, but that she couldn't approve me right away as my background check hadn't been completed. She then said that I would get a decision in the mail...I had to wait three months, and chase it up with a couple of phonecalls - but I finally got there!

I wouldn't worry too much, if there was anything major, he would have brought it up and asked you to bring in some further evidence. The officer at my interview didn't like my photographs, so she made us go retake them and bring them straight back to her that day...she even told us where to go to get them taken and gave directions!

Think positive, and keep checking that mailbox!

We were told that he had to wait for the biometrics results before he will 'decide' but I understood it to mean we were really approved pending biometrics. It took 8 weeks but we finally got it. Don't worry - its just a matter of time now. See ya in 2 years

You know, I was thinking about this case today, and I have decided that the officer you had did not have enough authority to approve your case. I have heard of that happening before, now that I think of it. Even our officer had to go talk to his supervisor before approving us. Maybe your guy's supervisor wasn't in or something. I'm not sure...but I think this could be the case.
