I like for her to have money on hand if needed and it is difficult in Colombia her a woman and alone so I sent her a Visa Debit card. I was tired of giving Western Union money I could give to her. I totally trust her and i can deposit money online from my other checking account when needed. The only thing I worried about was her being asked about the debit card with my name on it but that can be cleared up. I was just wondering how others might send money to their fiancees. Hey.... and this is a great place Thanks.

I got sick of giving Western Union all that money too so opened up a savings account attached to my main account at my credit union. It came with an ATM card which I gave to Claudeth. It only cost me $1.50 for her to withdraw money instead of the $20 or more I was paying to Western Union and WU was also making money on the conversion rate.

Debit card is the preferred method when possible. I only used Western Union when I needed to send the money for the plane tickets. (Cheaper to buy direct in China.)

I did the same thing through ingDirect (www.ingdirect.com). The differences are that 1) I sent her the ATM card via mail (actually in a package containing other things) and gave her the PIN when we chatted, and 2) they don't charge ATM fee that I can tell. I am a little frustrated that I can't tell the exchange rate, because they don't report it. So, every once in a while I ask for the amount she withdrew (php) and do the calculation myself. Also, its in my name but it hasn't posed a problem.

I opened a ITF [in Trust For] accounr for my wife at my local bank. Put her name on it also and they didn't require a signature or SSN from her.

Sent the card to her in the Philippines and I only kept $300 in it and added when needed.

When she came here she left the card with her sister. Makes it easy when family emergencies pop up.

Cost is $5 per hundred. No daily limit.

Also good for USCIS for evidence of a bonafide marriage or relationship.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

I know this does not respond to the topic. But, I'm curious, everyone who responded appears to be male. Do any women send their SO money? My fiance, says he doesn't need any money, but knowing the standard of living in Ghana versus USA, I wonder why he doesn't need. Why is it different for women than men abroad in terms of needing money?

I'm a female and I send money to my fiance. I don't really want him to work because it's not worth it considering the pay is sooo low and he needs to spend money for transportation and yet he'll be tired also. But anyways, he found a job so that will help alot.

Hello Everyone. Finally go reunited with my fiance and now husband. We are soo happy.... After 2 years since we filed 7/28/07 we received our visa on August 4, 2009... don't give up. if you know USEM is wrong fight for it... We did...

I actually set up the account and took the card to my wife on the first trip. She had no needs the first couple months but as the interview approached the needs increased and varied. The bank ended up changing from Visa to MasterCard during the process, so I eventually had to mail her a new one anyway.

Hi there

It is great that you want her to be cover in case of an emergency, but the fact that the card haS your name one instead of hers could be a problem because when you need to use it to buy something they won't let you, your credit or debit card name has to match your I.D CARD or (cedula) and it doesn't ,but when you take the money out of the ATM it is easy they don't ask for any I.D but it would be better you could give her a card with her name on it or even better here we have city bank you can open a bank account there for her and just send her money almost for free to that bank account ,actually it would cost as much as taking money from the ATM cost like 2 dollars or so.

Good luck.

And believe me trust is the foundation of many many things in a relationship.

The journey is over we are divorced now.

I haven't really looked into it, but I know PayPal has support for international money transfer between accounts. If you both had a verified PayPal account, it might be pretty simple. Like I said, I haven't dealt with it, though.
