I-864 affidavit of support question

Timeline

on the I-864 part 5;line 21..it asks for your household size-and to no count anyone twice..on line a is the person i am sponsering which is also now my wife..so i entered her as 1 there..and line c i entered her again because we are now currently married..but at the top it states (do not count anyone twice)..in the first affidavit of support we were a family of 5 (3 children from a previous marriage) now were a family of 6 unless i read this wrong..anyone have a clue about this?....thanks...mike

The question is confusing, to say the least. Since you already checked 21a and entered a '1' for your wife you cannot check 21c. The title of the section after 21a is "Persons NOT sponsored in this affidavit." You are sponsoring your wife, right? So don't enter anything here.

Edit: Nicky44 above is wrong. You have to leave 21a marked because it asks you to enter the value from line 10.

She is the IMMIGRANT, and is not counted as WIFE. Later if you sponsor someone else she would be counted as WIFE.

So count her on "a" NOT "c"
