I anticipate to be getting married in less than a year to the love of my life. I want to have a simple but classy reception. I have a very huge family and guest list. My invite list is around 250. Any ideas on the type of places I can check or call to get a quote? Please post all your ideas. I might not be the only person in need of assistance. Post the name and location of the place. If possible, please copy their website address.

Do you want to just rent a hall and cater your own?

Or go to a place where you can have the full function.

Usually places charge you per person and in that price, the food and hall rental price is included.

Even with a nominal 45.00 per person fee you are looking at about $11,500 for everyone with a guest list of 250.

You could also do what a lot of people are doing these days and just serve hor'dourves, this is a cost effective way to treat your guests to a little something to eat.

Buy bridal magazines from the area you will be living or want to marry in. Theres always sections on facilities.

Where will you be residing? That also will depend on how much you will be spending.

PS:

For some ideas, you can usually rent church basements or facilities, firehalls, community centres. But you will have to provide your own food/catering for these places. They dont generally run you a lot of money and again you would have to check at the places in your community.

I just recently went to a Nigerian wedding. The golf course hall was $ 500 and very nice. The friends from the Nigerian Association

cooked all the food, everyone pitched in and helped.

It was very classy and inexpensive.

That day was the Western wedding in white and the day before the traditional tribal wedding in Nigerian clothes at the home of the bride's parents.

All in all 2 weddings and 2 receptions within 2 days.......we had a ball !

If you're not picky about the day, moving the wedding and reception to Friday can help save you money.

The parks near where I grew up always had tables and pavilions that could be rented out.

Yes doing it during the week saves you a lot. Also having it during the day saves a lot too. A lot of places nowadays give you a 5 hour time slot, and if you choose a midday time slot you can save THOUSANDS.
