We were discussing Christmas the other day, and this being the first Christmas of many that our family will be together (without being torn apart afterwards) we wanted to do something unusual. We've been joking about ways to come up with a Scottish Christmas Tree lol (tartan ribbon, sheep ornaments, yeah we're really weird lol) but we were also wondering where we were going to find Christmas crackers, and other things to make our middle son feel more at home. I've been trying to come up with ideas and google things (we've been howling over some people's take on Scottish Christmas since it's really not *much* different than over here) And you don't even want to know my hubby's definition of a "yule log" *shudder*

Anyone have any online shops that aren't ridiculously overpriced where they get their Christmas crackers etc or suggestions. That would be wonderful :D Thank you!

I have found Christmas Crackers at both Bed Bath & Beyond and in TJ Maxx. Both reasonably priced! I made sure to have them here last year for G's 1st American Christmas. I juts placed them on the table at each place setting and he didn't really even notice since he's so used to seeing them on Christmas anyway! But it was fun for my family to get a taste of the English Christmas!

They also have them at The World Market normally...they seem to be priced alright!

There are a couple of online shops that were reasonable...someone had a link for their wedding...Humm let me see if I can find it!

Ha ha, I never realised that Christmas crackers were a particularly British + Irish thing!!!

Now don't tell me that there's no mince pies and mulled wine in America either?? Christmas cake??

For me it's Christmas when all my extended family are in one house and the women are cooking and clucking around and the men are slightly tipsy. ;)

I saw autumn crackers at party city a few weeks ago when we were shopping for halloween stuff. I assume they will have christmas ones as well. I've never seen then any other place but then again I haven't been out looking for them. neil's mom is sending us some christmas goodies along with "luxury" crackers. I wonder what her take on "luxury" ones are. superdrugs finest lol

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

Those are definitely British Christmas traditions, and you may be able to get a hold of those things in America, but it wouldn't a simple matter of popping down to the shop.... Or did you already know that and were just being silly? I hope I'm not like ruining your day!! :P
