I'm looking for ways to save money since I've suddenly incurred a $300+ monthly expense so I was looking at bundling my telephone/internet/tv. Verizon FIOS seems to be the newest and greatest thing but looking at their Arabic package all it says is Arabic Radio & Television [ART] and it's only one channel so I wondered if anyone has this and knows what is on it?

It looks awesome! Telephone/internet and tv bundled at the basic price is $99.99/month with the first month free. http://www22.verizon.com/content/consumerfios/ you can input your zip to see if you're eligible.

Beyond being able to bundle, and to get the arabic station and fox soccer without having to use a satellite, they also have a dvr box that lets you watch your programmed stations on any of the tv's that you have hooked up AND you can load your videos from your computer and watch them on your tv. (no i don't work for verizon. lol.)

I'm just wondering if the added price of the arabic station is worth it. I guess if nothing else if he feels homesick he can flick it on.

Arabic Radio & Television......

It (the company I work for) is a broadcasting company that shows Arabic movies & programs (with subtitles) by satellite to English-speaking countries.

Sounds like it to me. But, I will ask tomorrow if they are the same company or if they are broadcasted through Verizon in the states.

Good luck saving some money on the TV/Cable/etc......

I tried to look up my address and it said it is not aviable in my area.. I know that is not true cause they just put the fiber in my apartment complex in the last 2 months.

Maybe try calling them? I ordered it and they'll install a week from this Friday inshallah. I can't wait! All of my friends have had tivo like forever and now I can do the dvr thing for all my favorites like American Idol and Lost, etc.

The total came to about $125/month since I added a few extras like ART. I now pay $130 to Comcast for digital cable and internet and $57/month for telephone so I'll be saving $62/month and getting a whole lot more! They even do a service for free where they tell people using your old email about your new address. That was a big worry for me. AND I get a new free wireless router...which is what started this whole mess in the first place.

Free-to-air Satellite. $300.00 one-time, and you get a load of TV stations.

By the way, have you heard about FiOS with the problem of Installation Fires? :P

( Heh, sorry. )

ART is a pretty good channel but it's kinda limited. Have you thought about getting Dish Network? They have an Arabic language channel package that offers several stations. Or you can do what KyanWan suggested and get the Arab satellite that you only pay the one time fee (usually $200-$300). It has several Arab language channels from several MENA countries. Our friends have that and the Dish Network.

Well he can do that once he gets here if he wants. I just was looking for a way to save money and noticed that ART was an option. If he wants the $300 satellite he can pay for it. :P
