Ok folks, question. We will move soon to a more permanent place; so there is need to file an AR-11; that much I understand. Do we also need to file the I-865? If so, where do I send them? I know the AR-11 goes to Kentucky, how about the I-865? We did DCF through Montreal so that's where our file is.

Wisdom, anyone?

L.

Hey girl, file the AR-11 online (much easier and hassle free) and send the I-865 by mail. Bren needs to fill out the I-865 since he's your primary sponsor and I'm assuming he's moving with you. ;) Where you send the I-865 is in the instructions and depends on your place of residence.

Did you get your GC yet? Are you moving after you get your GC in the mail or will someone be at your old address to let you know if it arrives or not? Whatever address you're at, make sure your last name used is on the mailbox somewhere. Some postal workers are super picky about that and only deliver mail to those listed on the mailbox. Some don't care (like mine).

Thanks for the advise gals. Indeed, Bren will move with me (he's stuck with this crazy wife the poor thing) LOL  Oh and misa, someone at the old addy will pick up the GC when it gets there, no problem about that. Should be here soon enough!

Since we live in Washington state, our form goes to the Nebraska Center.

Now.... will we ever get a "yes people, we got your stuff"? Or do we have to 'trust' the system??????

Bren will receive an official notice at the new address for the I-865. I'm not sure if you will receive one though. I did when I filed AR-11 but I had pending cases at the time so the notification I received in the mail reflected my pending cases. When you do the AR-11 online you will get a confirmation number at the end so make sure you save and print that out for your records.

Before you file an I-90 form you should make a infopass appointment at your local office and they will be able to tell you if it has been mailed or not.. if it has been mailed they will be able to tell you when and if it has been returned to them...

And now in reading the instructions it says we should keep a copy (daaaah, I knew that from dealing with MTL) but to also keep a copy of certified mail stuff ---- meaning I assume I'd better send it like that instead of regular mail, am I right?

Yep.. You need to keep the proof that you mailed out the document.. :) Certified mail all the way :)

It didn't take us long to get the confirmations back either.. (we were pending in the AOS process). We did the A-11 online and the I-865 by certified mail (probably took us 2-3 weeks to get the NOA back for each)!
