Awww, so sweet! I posted mine here the evening it happened. (As soon as I was able to type coherently again  ) We had been talking about getting married and who was moving where when he made a realization. Here it is for those that missed it plus an update: He proposed online...

Jonathan(12/14/2006 4:00:35 PM): y'know - I kinda get the feeling I've forgotten something here...

Vikki (12/14/2006 4:00:48 PM): as long as we have copies of everything, then all we would need then is a copy of the marriage cert to send off

Jonathan (12/14/2006 4:00:50 PM): oh yeah, that was it!

Jonathan (12/14/2006 4:01:01 PM): Vikki, I love you and want to be with you forever...

Jonathan (12/14/2006 4:01:05 PM): will you marry me?

Jonathan (12/14/2006 4:01:22 PM): figured maybe I should ask

Vikki (12/14/2006 4:01:33 PM):

Jonathan (12/14/2006 4:01:45 PM): since we're planning the wedding and all

Vikki (12/14/2006 4:01:54 PM): he he yeah

Jonathan (12/14/2006 4:01:59 PM):

Vikki (12/14/2006 4:02:00 PM): Yes I will marry you

Jonathan (12/14/2006 4:02:12 PM): oh man, now I've got a #######

then a few minutes later:

Jonathan (12/14/2006 4:07:19 PM): of course, this still doesn't *really* count I guess...

Jonathan (12/14/2006 4:07:26 PM): gotta wait till I can do it in person

Jonathan (12/14/2006 4:08:00 PM): but what the hell - guess it kinda formalises things :)

That's right, he popped a ####### when he popped the question.

He did propose in person later. I went to visit him for 5 weeks this past spring. The morning of my flight we took our last shower together so I had left my rings on the nightstand. I come out of the bathroom and he cuts a loud and horrendous fart (romance, aye?) He grabs my engagement ring (he had ordered it online and had it shipped to me at Christmas) gets down on one knee, and at this point my eyes are burning and my stomach's turning. I pushed him  and said "Oh hell no, I don't want to remember this moment as the time I nearly suffocated with your rank fart!" We moved it over to the other side of the room (which wasn't much better, was that bad) He got down on one knee and said, "Vikki I love you and want to be with you forever. Will you marry me?" I said yes. he slipped on the ring, we kissed and I ran to open the windows.

Sure these stories seem a bit ribald but that's just the way we are, we fit each other so well that looking back, I wouldn't have had it any other way :) (ok with less fart smell maybe...)

Haha! This is a great proposal! It still is very romantic - yes, even with the fart smell :)

A smooth visa journey and much speed to all!

There was no grand proposal. We had been friends for a long time before he started asking me out on dates and I kept refusing. One day he asked me outright why I wouldn't date him. I told him I didn't want to put our friendship at risk etc and most importantly I knew he was due to go home to the States eventually and I wasn't prepared to do a long distance relationship or tearful airport goodbyes.

He kind of looked confused and said "If we are together when I leave there is no way I would leave you, I would want you to come with me or I would stay here." A few weeks later in a club it came out that his birthday is on 12th March and mine the 14th.....So he said we should get married on the 13th...and I thought that was a great idea!

We got married a few years later..not on the 13th but we have great birthday celebrations anyway

My husband is a geek. An anime geek at that to boot. In the american circuit, he's known for several 'Anime Music Videos'... current pop music, mixed with japanese animation = what music videos should look like imo, and not half naked girls jiggling up and down on the spot in an attempt to 'dance'.

So, being the geek he is, he did an Music Video Proposal :) it backfired cause I knew what he was doing, as he worked on it after I arrived in the states, and not before *headdesk*.

It was under the guise of 'This is my next video I'm going to enter to a contest', but with a semi-failed "oy, <insert friend> drag her away from the mall so I can buy her a ring" and the general air of 'teehee, I'm doing something behind your back mwahaha' and with the arrival of a bunch of friends from around the state for a mini-con, I clued in quickly :)

It was quite funny actually. Whilst I figured I knew what was going on, I still didn't want to ruin his day, and who knows, he may still in fact NOT be asking me to marry him, and it may just be a 'happy anniversary' thing. He was thinking about that too, but didn't want to be killed either ;)

Unfortunatly, when it came up on the screen, he didn't leave me enough time for me to do the whole 'shock, wasn't expecting this, pause, yes!' moment till it started playing again, and me being the polite young aussie girl, I waited till the end of the video before I said anything. Meanwhile, I KNOW he's sweating bullets ;) mwahaha

No bigass lawn cut to say 'marry me' or a long hike up a mountain, but this way, I'll ALWAYS have my proposal :)

The Beginning

September 29th, 1999 - 'hooked' up with Dave after chatting with him for about a year online.

October 23rd, 2004 - September 29th, 5 years to the day, he proposed to me =D

July 23rd, 2005 - Dave comes over for the wedding on July 27th at the beach :)

Sometime in December, he sends off I-130 to Texas and promptly leaves me in the dark like a mushroom x.X...

The Saga Continues *dumdeduuummm*

August - phone NVC. intriguing :\ Phoned again, ah hah! the truth... no record of us >< losers... Go and visit Dave for 3 months...

End of January, we sent the petition back in again. 2 weeks later, we actually get a number in our hot little hands.

April 5th - NOA2 approved!

April sometime, received and sent back Choice of Agent

May 18th - Received IV Bill

May 28th - Sent IV Bill MO back

June 11th - DS-230 generated

July 12th - Received and sent back DS-230 packet

July 19th - NVC Sent Husband checklist of AoS. They forgot to fill in N/A fills with.... N/A x.X

July 23rd - DS-230 entered

July 26th - NVC received checklist regarding financial suppliment (ie, got a talking to on the phone :P)

August 1st - sent financial papers back

August 3rd - (Automatic msg) Financial records lacking! ARGH!~

August 7th - Received actual fixed paperwork - 'processing'

August 17th - NVC COMPLETED CASE!~

September 10th - Received packet 3

September 17th - Medical in Brisbane

November 14th - Interview VISA GRANTED

December 8th - Landed in USA

December 24th - GreenCard Arrives

Loved all stories. Laura, yours is amazing

Mine was like this:

We were here in Brazil (Balneario Camboriu), and we went have dinner, we had shrimps (first time Charles saw me eatting shrimps my way, with tail on and peel on  ), but that didnt stop him. After we went for a walk on the beach, and then it was the most beautiful night ever, there's this island that they illuminate not often, but it was illuminated that night, just perfect, so he was on his knees and he proposed (L) and i said yes :luv: and he was hiding the ring soooo romantic.

Of course before that we had already established that we would be getting engaged but he wanted to propose in person not over the internet.

Gene proposed to me in the Edmonton Airport on bended knee. We seemed to have spent a lot of time in our relationship hanging out in airports!:lol:

It's funny what happened before he got out into the waiting area by me however....

He was coming through Canada Customs in Edmonton, Alberta, and handed in his customs declaration form. He was looking rather figitty and nervous, and had in his hand a hat that he planned on wearing as he was walking towards me in the airport. They pulled him over for secondary. They asked who he was visiting etc. and he stated his girlfriend. He stated that he was going to propose to me in the airport. They said, really! Do you have a ring?! He said...sure, right here. He showed them the ring, and then the CO got all stern and said, why didn't you put this on your customs declaration? Gene said, well, I didn't know I was supposed to. The guy said, yes, you HAVE to put it on there! He said (the CO) what did you think this was if not a gift??? Gene said...a symbol of love? The guy said, we could confiscate this you know! Gene was sweating bricks now...

The CO made him pay the GST on the ring. (Gene had the original receipt for the ring to give to me)

Gene was quite anxious now, and he came towards me in the airport with this hat on...and he was bending his head, trying to get my attention and to read the words on this hat. I was thinking as he was approaching...what's he doing? He looks like a goof! As he got closer I could see on the hat, the embroidered words "Will you marry me?" on it. He bent down and took my hand...saying, will you marry me? I started to cry...but said yes of course.

Gene had the ring out at this time, and said "hurry up before they take it from me!"
