Can anyone tell me the differnce between Namecheck and Background check are they both in the same. My wife is still pending Background check. Thanks

Actually they are two different things entirely. The criminal background checks are usually run immediately within 24-72 hours after they receive an AOS application in all their USA databases, this sometimes can take longer if their is a hit or cross match on a name or their is question about background record that has to be verified manually by human being or by hand. Then the name is sent on to FBI for Name check start within 2 weeks after AOS received at USCIS. I say this for based on what you asked and assuming it is in AOS filing.
