OK, so today the packet 3 arrived. My fiancee called me and said it is so big it will give her a headache. :D She is a little confused by it all.

My question is this: What do I have to provide to her to turn in when she mails the Packet 3 paperwork back to the Consulate? Is there actually anything she needs from me now? I have never been sure of what she needs with Packet 3 vs what she needs for the interview.

Thanks

My fellow jouneyman Matt, that was pretty quick. Did the Consulate ever respond to your email about when they received it? Our petition sent there only 2 weeks after your's. I have been gathering our eveidence the past few weeks, and it is a major project, ecspecially organizing it well so she can find things easy. I think the only thing she needs to return is DS230 part 1 and the checklist.

Well that was darn quick! I called them on Thursday (4/13) and they said they had received the electronic file for our case. They didn't mention anything about mailing packet 3.

I guess it just goes to show you that once those cases arrive, they are distributed however they are received. If your on the top of the stack, awesome, on the bottom, wait my friend.

Looks like you landed on top! Great news!

I received an email this morning. They did not say when my info arrived, but they did say they mailed packet 3 on the 4th.

Matt,

She only needs to send back DS-230 form from PCK 3. Keep this in mind, she can hand deliver the form to the consulate, it will be quicker and safer if she can do this. Also, after she completes the form, see if she can scan it and email you a copy so you can cross check her information. Next thing to remember is once she turns in the form you need to get the ball rolling fast, send her proof of relation, Co sponsor information (make sure everything get notorized that needs it) and she will have her lists of tasks as well, police report, and the least popular one (The medical exam). After my fiancee turned in her DS230 form, the interview was Approx. one month later, so there is not alot of time to prepare.

That's it? Just that one form? So why is the packet so big? What is all the other stuff?

Thats all she need to send for now to them to schedule the interview. She will need to fill out the other forms and bring to the interview. In packet 3 there in an instruction page that tells you exactly what to do.

Congratulation Matt. If she finishes packet 3 and sends it fast in a month they will send her paket 4 to tell her the date for the interview. So I guess in two months she will have the interview and visa in hand if she does well, I think she will. I am jealous now but happy for you guys.

Anh filled out the DS-230 form and mailed it back yesterday. God I hope she did it right and that there was nothing else needed to be sent back. I cannot help but be nervous because I see so many people had 2 to 3 weeks delyas between the time they received pckt 3 and the time they returned it.

I don't think the DS-230 is necessarily a difficult form to fill out. I think maybe you saw those delays because of the "other" document gathering that was possibly taking place in between (i.e. police certificate, birth certificate, translations, etc). Perhaps they were getting it all completed before they sent the packet 3 info back to the consulate notifying them they were ready for an interview.

Keep the diligent preparation going Matt. You never know, you might get an interview date sooner rather than later.

When do you arrive in HCMC? How long will you stay?
