English Christmas Pudding AKA Plum Pudding

Calling all Brits.........

Whats the best tasting Christmas Pudding? (Name brand plz)......actually give me your top 3 favorites if possible......

Im trying to go traditional for Christmas this year and give my hubby a grand ole English Christmas so I need every Brit out there to voice their opinions since me being the USC has not got a clue on what Christmas pudding tastes like lol.

Well, my favourites are all UK ones so you couldn't buy them over here. Waitrose always had a good one; it had nuts in it aswell as the fruit, there was a good touch of alcohol in there aswell (good puds always have a good dash of brandy in them!). I serve mine with thick cream, but other people like brandy butter.

Mrs Peeks Rum and Brandy Christmas Pudding is available generally in the USA and about $10 or so. Or you can get Marks and Spenser Luxury Christmas Pudding for about $40 from WISE Choice in Dayton Ohio. Can't vouch for the taste of either as I don't eat it, but I think you should get some brandy to pour over whatever you select and put a flame to it for tradition sake.

Mrs Peeks is generally at the lower end of the Christmas pudding market in the UK, it's pretty much the cheapest one available. Tastes all right but is nothing special, good if you're on a budget. Marks and Spencers' puds are fabulous; if you could get hold of one of those then you'd be sorted, no problem, although $40 seems REALLY expensive. A M&S pud generally retails for around 5-10 quid (depending on which one you wish to buy, they have a few different ones) which is around $10-20. $40 is priced way over the odds, even for an import.

look under 'regional discussion' then the 'United Kingdom' subforum.

Not all the UKers in there come into OT.

As to the Christmas pudding....I loathe the stuff, so I wouldn't know.
