Hi all,

Though most people round here use James' shortcuts I thought it might be useful to show a recent example without shortcuts, so here's mine. (Note: the Singapore embassy is one of the few standard processing posts left.)

Thanks for posting this!

I am a little afraid of using James Short-cuts. Especially since the NVC seems to be changing all of the time. It would be my luck that they change the bar coding system after I sent a document.

Thank!!!

Same here. Even though I've done barcodes for work .. I'm just ... I don't know ... a bit weary of doing things on my own / breaking the Gov't sequence.

I've worked with them enough, know enough Government* people to have a feel of their system. If you throw a wrench in their gears (eg: Your form isn't the same as the example) ... they don't always appreciate it.

If you're dealing with a month mailing time each way from China, the shortcuts can become extremely attractive, even if you skip the barcode part.

The shortcuts are all about the mailing time and as mentioned if your mail isn't actually going to an address in the U.S. it saves, as in our case, at least a month of mailing time - probably more.

Yeah really everyone here is now so unclear about what this shortcuts can do and benefit one but are not seeing that for most of us it is working and has been. It worked for my DS-3032 and am sure it will work for you too. Just keep loggin in and checking for changes, thats what I do. And for the rest of us old members lets keep updating each other by posting of what we are learning as we go about our VJOURNEY!

I never received my I-864. That alone saved more than 2 weeks in calling the NVC and waiting again to receive just the cover sheet. I wish there is a way to create the IV bill so we don't ever have to look at the mailbox.

One more thing, with the JSC we can travel anywhere without worrying about the mail. I found it great.

hi,

i think it works for some, and doesnt other. The most simple solution would be Govt, NVC, USCIS start using overnight mail delivery system instead of normal mail. The JSC would no longer be useful. And i am sure no one here would oppose if he NVC / USCIS take money from us for the overnight mail. Its all about gettting things faster when life is all about precious time

well there are many applicants who can't afford the internet and are left in the lurches fending on daily wages. The fees have to be in line with what the service is meant for. There definitely needs to be more streamlining of the process and efficiencies introduced. just by raising fees and switching to Courier doesn't circumvent the delays.

there is no resolve from most who make it past this maze. its amazing how many tend to mark it fate/destiny and never look back if this process can be improved, or the govt takes head to the plight of families involved.

writing to senators, congressmen does have its values, but no action on our part results in these repeated agonies again and again.

While for people without internet access it might not be useful, really most of this process could be done online.

For years Canadian Government services have been taking payment online - I'm not comparing the two, just saying that it actually does work. It would save us time and them. Alternately if you don't have a credit card you should be able to download the payment slip to include with your money order etc.

Then again, if they were streamlining things we would be making 1 payment and sending 1 package of documents.

I think the process as it stands is rather bizarre.

Hi,

Immigration and JObs are such a touchy issue, that no congressman or even a local politician will ever touch it. They will drop when they want and touch for their personal gain. Politics remains the same. When relations between two countries are good in all terms... economic, socio, thoughts and policy making ..... life is really very easy for people moving between those countries. For this there are many examples, which I think would be to long to mention here.
