Why does a flight that cost me 544.00 cost me 1800.00 a week later?

From what I've noticed, the prices go up and down throughout the day. They tend to be more expensive between Thursday through till Tuesday. I always try and buy my tickets Tuesday or Wednesday. Also remember that as the days get closer to the day you want to leave, they will go up. So if you can buy way in advanced, then do so. I have found that buying directly from the airlines and not some travel site saves you money. Also, try looking at Air Canada if your flying from BC to UT. I used to fly Delta from Toronto to Atlanta, but I noticed Air Canada had cheaper rates and still do.

Yeah, we generally use Expedia or Travelocity to find out the different prices from different airlines, then go directly to the applicable airline and purchase the tickets through them. For Thanksgiving, even though we scoped out the prices on Travelocity, we actually booked them at Continental. Continental was actually a few dollars cheaper than was listed through Travelocity. One day's difference in selecting the departure date, however, raised the price by $125, so the date and time of the flight can make a big difference.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

See the problem is, we can't be flexible with dates for her flight or time!

becuz she's an unaccompanied minor, she can't fly on the last flight going to SLC or from.

She also has to fly non stop.

We always used to fly out of Seattle with Southwest Airlines . It was always way cheaper then delta. but, my ex won't drive her to seattle to get on a cheaper flight.

I did find a flight from bellingham which isn't too far from my ex's place but the flight leaves at 6am. He'll have a fit if he has to be at the airport at that time in the morning! Plus the return flight might be the last flight of the day. It doesn't say on the website.

Usually if you try to book a flight online thats not on an actual airline website (expedia) It will ask the age of the child. If you just click on child and not adult, it won't allow you to buy the ticket. Red lettering will come up that says you must purchase an adult fare with the child. It won't let you buy just 1 child fare.

If the return flight out of bellingham isn't the last flight and she can use this flight I'll probably buy it. I'll offer to pay for a hotel for my ex & my daughter so that they can drive to Bellingham the day before so that my ex won't complain about driving all the way to bellingham for a 6am flight. ( I can be sure he'll complain cuz thats what he does. He loves to make my life miserable!)

Look into prices with United Airlines. Anytime I flew from Nova Scotia to Spokane United was always the cheapest flight

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

My kids never travelled alone to the US until they were young adults, but while in Canada, they travelled alone after age 13 unaccompanied and this was with multiple stops. Maybe you have to go straight to the airlines, and not Travelocity or Expedia. I know it's too late to change things, but maybe for the future. I know what you mean by the fares increasing as well. Dreadful piece of #######!
