This will be my first American Thanksgiving. For Canadian thanksgiving in October I just did a frozen turkey breast, mashed potatoes and veggies.

I know we will have lots of people over for Thanksgiving. We are still deciding whether to do a deep fried turkey or a turduckin. I have never tried either.

:bonk: Are you telling us this is the aperitif at your home for the day?

mixes well with egg nog :D

I guess that makes my shopping list for Thanksgiving easy :P

enough egg nog and wild turkey and i won't give a chit if the turkey is burned or not :P

do they sell a small turkey already cooked? I won't spend all day in the kitchen if I have to work the next day and I won't ever make the same mistake I made last Christmas to cook a turkey that last a month for both of us.

I don't know. I'm not much into the pre whatever food, you know? blah, I guess i'll have to get ourselves a turkey and do the stuffing with nuts and raisins like I did last christmas. Pros: I won't have to worry about cooking on the weekend after that since we'll have leftovers. I'll be up before 6 as I always am so I'll have time to cook it. Cons: hubby will have to eat leftover for a week, poor thing. I'll have to free space on my fridge for that.

Back in the days where there were just two I had to cook for, I'd just make a roasted chicken instead. Still tasty, less time to cook and less leftovers! Plus all the other traditional Thanksgiving foods go well with chicken too.

I love Thanksgiving turkey... it's the only time in Los Angeles that you see natural breasts.

you could just buy a couple of turkey breasts instead of buying the whole turkey...

my mom does that, she just buys turkey breasts and drums....

Mmmm Thanksgiving food!!! We're heading to Vancouver for Thanksgiving to visit my in-laws. Really looking forward to the trip (I need a VACATION!!!!). I know my MIL will make a nice Thanksgiving meal for me (which is sweet since they already celebrated their Thanksgiving). The only thing I will miss is my mom's stuffing ... family recipe that calls for sausage and roast chestnuts in it .. yummy!!!
