Gas leak in my apartment

I just spoke to a property manager and he said the apt complex is not necc responsible for finding you alternate accommodation...check your lease...but here's a thought....ask the prop mgr if you can use another apt for cooking/showering.

I checked my lease and in the case of an emergancy and the apartment complex was responsible for it, then it is their responsibility to accomidate us with somewhere to stay. and gas leak and repair was on the list

The closest hotel is the Mariott, its behind out complex and closest to my work, im hoping to get that bc i dont wanna end up across town, thats gonna really screw me up on my time schedule of getting shonna to school and then getting to work, when i already live 5 mins from work

update:

they put us in a hotel for the weekend, the leak is in the walls and they dont know where so they will tear down the walls next week and replace all the gas piping. the prob is they are not sure when next week they can get to it and it can take up to a week to fix. im homeless until its fixed

but my family is safe.

im being reimbursed for half months rent and all food i eat out, as long as i keep the receipts. I had to do ALOT of b**ching to get to this point. but i got it.

Oh thank God for that, Tara. That is just scary. Hang in there. I hope they will just relocate you into another apartment as a permanent solution. It's going to take some time for them to replace all the pipes.

Soooooo happy that your complex did the right thing!!!! According to what the prop mgr I spoke to said, they weren't actually bound to provide you with accomodation. Of course, he also said that he didn't know all the facts, but from what he did know, it would be questionable what they were req'd to do. Which sucks big time if you ask me....but it's so nice to see companies not hiding behind the law as an excuse to not do what they should.

And to give you a prorated rent AND put you up in a hotel is just really cool!!!

You should give me the name of it (in pvt of course) in case D & I move into Orlando when he gets here...sounds like a good place to live.

Glad things are sorted...for now. Hope they manage to get the gas pipes replaced sooner rather than later. Hotels are nice and all that (well some are) but nothing is quite the same as home.
