I am so confused!

I called the NVC today and they said that they have everything but need:

Copy of passport

Copy of Original Birth Certificate

Copy of Original Marriage Certificate

these wee the things I was suppose to send it with my DS 230 that I didn't. But I also remember reading that you are suppose to send a police certificate and the guy I spoke to didn't mention this. So I asked him that what about the Police C. and he told me that my husband would need one from pakistan (country of nationality) and not from Jordan(country of residence) because he has been in Jordan for less than a year.

So than I called back to ask where in Pakistan can I get this from and this operator told me "No He doesn't need one" (in broken english) .. I was like "He doesn't eed one from either country? and he goes.. "NO NO! HE DONT NEED IT OKAY?!" i was like  huh?

one operator told me one thing and than the one who didnt know english told me we dont even need to submitt a police certificate.

Could this be possible in some cases?

Maybe not by NVC, but I would have it for the interview at the consulate.

Police Records

Available to resident Jordanian citizens and foreigners. The General Intelligence Directorate (GID) is responsible for issuing good conduct certificates. They are considered to be reliable, but cover primarily security-related records, i.e. not necessarily criminal information. These certificates must be applied for in person at the local GID office, and are valid for one year. It takes up to two weeks to obtain the certificate from the GID. Foreigners must reside continuously in Jordan for six months before the GID will issue a certificate. There are no procedures to obtain these certificates through Jordanian embassies in foreign countries.

If your husband is originally from Pakistan then there is no way they will let him go away without a police cert at the time of the interview...

I am from Pakistan and so I seriously would advice to ask your husband to get the police cert made from now!! It is a PAIN to get it made in Pakistan. They take alot of time and unfortunately if you dont have any connection in the police you will have to end up paying them extra cash! So tell your husband to get on it now! Its valid for yr.

Plz donot listen to the cosulate ppl .....just follow whatever the immigration site says.http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2991.html

Applying for a Visa

An appointment package is sent to the agent or the applicant. (See note below.) The appointment package gives the applicant an interview date and tells you the specific requirements of the visa. It includes instructions on where to go to have the required medical examination. During the interview process, an ink-free, digital fingerprint scan will be taken. In general, the following is required:

A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond the applicant's intended period of stay in the United States (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions).

Birth certificate

Divorce or death certificate of any previous spouse

Marriage certificate

Police certificate from all places lived since age 16

Medical examination

Evidence of financial support. A completed Form I-864 Affidavit of Support from petitioner/ sponsor is required.

Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration, Form DS-230, both Part I and Part II

Two immigrant visa photos

Proof of the marriage and the husband/wife relationship

Payment of immigrant processing fees, as explained below
