Considering it's taking about 30-50 days(and maybe more) for NOA2 to be sent to NVC, I jumped the gun and decided to shoot them a letter requesting a case number and attached a copy of my NOA2..

Has anyone done this before?

I'll update you'll with the progress.....

How does getting a case number get your petition shipped to NVC any faster?

I sent a copy of my NOA2 last week. I called them a couple of days ago and they told me that it will take 4-6 weeks to process any incoming mails. That's about the same time CSC takes to forward the case to NVC.

Once NVC receives the approved petition they assign a case # and ship the approval notice to the consulate/embassy via Dept of State...

If I can get the approved petition from CSC in the mail in few days, I don't see why NVC would take 30-50 days to receive it...Am merely trying to expedite my case

But doesn't the embassy need the physical file if they are going to interview you? I believe they'd want to review what was submitted with the petition.

Maybe didn´t get the petition shipped to NVC faster...but it help for prior medical and save time later.

In my case, I need to case number asap, as I start my medical before to have it.

Because our NOA2 is from october 10 (the last months was more fast the cases arrive in foreign embassy) and I was thinking that in 2 weeks I would have this number case, but now with this delay... I hope don´t be in trouble, as I need this number case for to send to the doctor. She said it is ok, that she put my passport number there, and that the consulate can put my number case in my medical. But I don´t want run this risk...I wanted to make all right with time, and now I am in NVC hands.

I called USCIS this afternoon and the CustomerRep initially and she told me the petitions are usually sent to the consulate directly and I told her, the information she has/had is wrong....thanked her and hung up!

I called USCIS again(via the RFE trick) and spoke to another CustomerRep and she was right off the bat rude and inconsiderate  ..I explained I need clarification and she said USCIS does indeed send the case to NVC and I had to ask her couple of times if the case was sent to NVC..finally, she relented and said it was sent on Nov 1st..

If you remember, I had also sent in a photocopy to NVC requesting them to assign a case #...

I called NVC few min ago, the automated system did not have any info and then spoke to a CustomerRep and they did receive the petition on Nov 5th and it was sent out to the concerned consulate on Nov 7th...

so am not sure sending out the photocopy helped or not!!!

 I wish I had the gut to hang up on that lady when she told me the same. I took her words for it and found out a week later our case was still sitting in the staging area waiting to be shipped out. On top of that, someone at NVC also told me he has seen many cases skipped the NVC office and goes directly to the foreign Consulate.
