I really like hubby's family but there is one thing I don't like...

I lost another baby a few weeks ago and no one in his family sent me a condolence card or anything... and his sister and dad were the only ones to say they were sorry

when we lost the last baby, they just gave us money to help with the funeral but no one really said they were sorry for our loss  I know his family isn't really very touchy feelly but I would have liked some acknowledgment of our loss besides money...

Aww that is really sad and I am sorry to hear that.

Maybe they don't know what to say. Though they should say something, like you said a card would be nice so that they didn't have to speak about it.

I am really sorry that has happened. :(

I guess what I am trying to say is she really is a nice lady and means well. But I don't think she understands what we're going through. So I decided to print out allllllllllll of the information and give it to her. I don't think people really understand what we all go through, they think it's an easy process. It's not that way at all.

She can go ahead and think I'm lazy. I personally know I am not, but its just a little annoying when people don't understand.

Grandparents are cranky :hehe:

Don Cherry is one of your grandparents? :hehe:

Inlaws are quite amazing at times. While we're on the topic, let me talk about my drunken Aunt (my mother's sister). Here's her resume.

1) She gets loaded on Christmas, complains about how dry the turkey is, and nearly gets into a fist fight with my mom.

2) She complains about everything. Who in their right mind would complain about 80 degree weather with a slight breeze?

3) A perpetual nagger who treats my uncle like a parent of a child who has stolen something.

4) Throws down a few shots of Brandy for breakfast.

5) Cusses like a sailor

6) Always tells my grandma that she is the better daughter than my mom (Is this necessary at this age?)

7) Once the subject of politics comes up.... she's right, and you're wrong.

9-20-05 -(Married)

12-9-05 -AOS Packet mailed (I-485, I-130, I-765, and I-131)

12-11-05 - AOS packet received

1-3-06 - Biometrics appt. for I-485 and I-765

1-3-06 - My wife's name mispelled on i-485 still (tried to change via phone and still pending... name is spelled correctly on the I-765)

3-23-06 AOS interview scheduled (hopefully we can get the spelling of her last name correct on the I-485 before the interview.... feb 7th is a scheduled appointment to correct the spelling of her name with a local INS officer... anyone have any suggestions here???)

3-23-06... Interview went smoothly, and off to our favorite Japanese restaurant to celebrate the "permanent residence" status which was rightfully granted

5-6-06 Beautiful Church wedding in the Philippines.

10-9-08 Temporary Status of Residents card removed... Janie is a Permanent Resident now

Present = Living out our life together (had a healthy newborn son), and thankful that the aforementioned adustments have been granted.

my hubby's aunt is kind of like that... she gets drunk and then starts talking bad about people even if they are in the room

I had an Aunt kind of like that, she would go on and on telling everyone, mostly directed at her Son, how much she loveeeeeed them. Then she 'slipped' in the powder room and put her foot through the wall - xmas eve one year I believe.

I've never had much contact with my extended family - they are all on my Dad's side mostly and that was his Sister. My Mom was an only child so not many people there (but the ones that do exist are lovely). Ahh family.

These are my Mom's parent's, how cute are they. I never met either of them.

this last Christmas Eve we ere at hubby's sister's house like usual and his aunt was there... she had quite a bit to drink and was more then a little drunk...

anywho, she went outside for a smoke and when she came in I noticed her glasses were gone but I really didn't think anything of it... then a little while later my sis-in-law noticed that the aunt's pants were dirty and then my aunt was wondering where her glasses were.... that is when she said she had fallen down outside and then rolled down the yard (their yard has a little slope to it) they found her glasses on the end of the driveway...

ahhhhhhhhh ok that made me laugh!

Once, the same Aunt I mentioned earlier, showed up at our house late one night. I guess I opened the door - everyone else was asleep. Anyway she is all upset, crying, saying 'Howie is dead' (her Husband - my Uncle), he had been in the veteran's hospital for a long time. Anyway I sit up with her until like 4 a.m., saying consoling things, making tea etc etc.

As you can guess, Howie was just fine. The next day we just pretended like it never happened.

Tonight at the dinner table:

Husband is looking at the paper and a picture of Anderson Cooper is there.

Me: "He's handsome"

Husbands mother: *snotty tone* Mike is handsome too.

Oh ya I forgot! I CAN'T THINK ANOTHER MAN IS HANDSOME NOW THAT I AM MARRIED! YOU BETTER TELL THAT TO MY HUSBAND TOO SINCE HE LIKES SCARLETT JOHANSON AND HILARY DUFF AND ANGELINA JOLIE!!!

gawd. People get with the times.

It could have been worse, at least your MIL didn't tell Mike that she thinks he's cool.

Yes they were, it's funny, I have their marriage certificate, she states she is 21 but she was actually 18 at the time. He was 22 :)

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, Marilyn. Some people aren't exactly sure how to deal with situations such as this, so they remain quiet for various reasons. Some because they're uncomfortable with loss. Some don't want to deal with reality so they pretend it didn't happen. People get scared of emotions. They don't want to feel the pain. And they also don't want you to feel the pain, so they think it's better if they don't bring it up. I'm sure they feel bad, Marilyn. They just don't know how to express it. ((((((((Big hugs to you.)))))))))
