My mother-in-law seems to think we have a money tree sprouting in our back yard every single Friday afternoon.

Calls every 10 minutes for hours, down to every 30 minutes for days....stories so stupidly funny as to why she needs money THIS time that they ALMOST make me look forward to hearing them just for the laughs they bring. Let me give you an idea.....

one week, they had no food. They next week, the hurricane blew all their food away...........

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

my husband is from Ghana, so I know you are talking about

I am all that the Potter created me to be.

I celebrate, liberate and dedicate my life to His Glory.

My husbands grandmother thinks I'm lazy. :(

She has told everyone that I CAN in fact work and don't need my EAD. Someone down the street from her has a visa too and they can work. I tried to tell her that there are many different types of visa's and some allow you to work and some don't.

She was like: "No, you can work" - "You can't live on Mike's salary alone...you need to work"

Um you think I don't know this. You think I have enjoyed being unemployed for the past 6 months??

And when you try to tell her the rules she disagrees. So what makes this person who lives on the street more believable than us???

It's called an EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION DOCUMENT for a reason!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh fergawdsakes!

What is wrong with people.

Whoever doesn't want to believe you, well what can you do.

Say your part and walk away.

You really don't need to waste your time with negative energy.

Find loving happy shiny people and as for the rest of 'em: BE GONE!!

I guess I just don't like being viewed as "lazy"

You know sometimes old people are really stubborn and like to pretend like they know what they're talking about when they don't.

It just bothers me that someone would think that I enjoy living on a graphic designers salary.

It ain't all its cracked up to be, that's for sure.

I guess what I am trying to say is she really is a nice lady and means well. But I don't think she understands what we're going through. So I decided to print out allllllllllll of the information and give it to her. I don't think people really understand what we all go through, they think it's an easy process. It's not that way at all.

She can go ahead and think I'm lazy. I personally know I am not, but its just a little annoying when people don't understand.

I guess you must have been drawn to the lifestyle.

No point in wasting your energy arguing with some people, life is way too short to waste it that way. Avoid Grandma from Hell, if you can and remember for all you know, her ideation is caused by mental illness. Don't let her negativity get you down.

Oh the lifestyle...

Ha, did I laugh out loud there Spraileness.

Tell me about it.

I have been freelancing for a looooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnng time.

It's a love/hate relationship.

I always go back to: can I really show up to work 8-4 or 8-5 or something ludicrous like that when I'd rather work 24/7?

Bahaha! The constraints of working for a "firm" or something would suffocate me. Constraint creativity.

I like the contract work like this for a few months here and there, but..."full-time permanent work" those words, scare me.

:P

Although I am looking forward to getting more into the film industry...diving into it in Chicago and see what happens. Then I get to work 19 hours a day for months until the project is completed.

Hey, I like that!

I plan on becoming a wedding planner full time once I am able to work. Actually starting out as an assistant to get my foot in the door in the area. But even that isn't going to bring in a lot of money.

We're both happy with our choices though and in the end it's what matters, but in no way do our career choices earn us enough to live the "good life" lol
