My in-laws are fantastic. My only beef (minor) is that they have a tendency to make plans at the last minute and then kinda pout when we tell them we can't show up. Other than that, they are pretty cool. J's sister's husband is a bit of a pill, but hey, he ain't my hubby!

It does.... I guess I had my revenge when we had to stay at their place before going to the Consulate in Calgary to file the I-130 (while she was on a -check this out- SPIRITUAL CRUISE IN EGYPT and Bren's brother was there alone, daaaah) and I forgot part of the Lady Heather collection....:devil::devil: which she returned with the SAFEWAY shite. LMAO

SOOO hillarious! :lol::lol::lol:

Considering her story, I'll bet she was MORTIFIED (tight-a@@!) :P

My future in-laws are a sweet old Irish/Scottish couple...Dad plays harmonica wearing a tartan kilt and hat...so cute.

They are "reserved" when it comes to me; Doug's been w/some real biotches, so I don't blame them....they'll realize what a sweetie I am sooner or later :innocent:

Has nothing to do with in-laws, but Doug looks just like his Mom which CREEPS ME OUT. After spending a day with them, all I can think about is Doug in drag!!

I know...MY issue...

*First, "she's not coming to our wedding because she's all booked (naturopath who takes herself way too freaking seriously)"

*Second, she invites HER parents (who are as unpleasant as she is)

*Third, she graces us with her presence and shows up dressed in white....

*Fourth (this is a funny): she sits next to our gradschool buddies and proclaims herself a DOCTOR... THAT was hilarious (I wasn't sitting there but the laughter from the Chemistry department was way too loud to miss so I asked)

*Fifth she doesn't even give us a "congrats on your wedding" card - never mind a wedding gift.

What a freak, LOL...totally reminds me of my neice's sister-in-law, who lives in a family "commune" w/her hubby and 2 kids...totally natural (ie, barefoot & preggo all the time), including allowing her kids to breast feed until THEY didn't want to anymore...talk about freaky...watch a SIX YEAR OLD unbutton his Mom's shirt and latch on....

My mother-in-law seems to think we have a money tree sprouting in our back yard every single Friday afternoon.

Calls every 10 minutes for hours, down to every 30 minutes for days....stories so stupidly funny as to why she needs money THIS time that they ALMOST make me look forward to hearing them just for the laughs they bring. Let me give you an idea.....one week, they had no food. They next week, the hurricane blew all their food away...........

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Time goes by and during Christmas she sends the tackiest most un-classy gift I've ever received:

A SAFEWAY GIFT CARD.... same that I gave to a homeless girl who was my pet project back then.

Hey I like Safeway gift cards when I get them. Of course I'm the cook in the house and someone else paying for my food means I get to get some cool fun interesting things I normally wouldn't want to spend my money on. But a gift card, I can get that expensive stuff. Yay for grocery gift cards...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

I like my inlaws A LOT. I have never met them though :) They are in Australia and I have spoken to my Husband's mom on the phone, she seems very nice and down to earth. He isn't close to his Father so we don't talk to him at all!

A freakshow indeeeeeeed. They don't have children although the brother really wants one, but this one keeps using the next year excuse. Damn it lady, if you don't want kids just freakin say it and stop yanking C's chaing for freaks sake. ARGHHHH. Though I can totally see her feeding organic only and using water/vinegar for cleaning (though from the scrummy looks of their place they have not cleaned since the last sun eclipse.... EEEWWW)

I called my hubby today. He moved back in with his parents to save up some cash while we wait for immigration. Anyway, the mother-in-law answers the phone. (This woman moved to Canada 15+ years ago and her English is still limited to about 3 phrases). Anyway, hubby must of told her about my broken tooth and its causing me to writh around in the crazy pain of an exposed nerve and of course, she puts her other son on the phone so he can translate to me that she too is feeling pain and she thinks she has a cavity. Of course, her pain will always outweight anyone else's on the planet. Regardless, I feigned another incoming call to get off the phone and will try the hubby on his cell again later.

She is currently been fighting a worker's comp claim for the last bazillion years because she has tendonitis in her wrist and of course that makes it completely impossible for her to do any kind of work. Naturally, the language barrier (her inability to speak English or French) wouldnt preclude her from finding some kind of phone work!! As soon as she settles her claim, she wants to buy a house back in the 'homeland' and just live off the Canadian disability. For some people it is just easier to fight the government for years and years for free cash then it is to actually work and save some money.

*sigh* this rant didn't really make me feel better.

Geeesh, this thread is horrible! Yikes, some of you have MIL's from HELL! I adore my in-laws, and they love me. I think the most wonderful compliment I've ever received is when my MIL sent me an email, and at the end said... "I have friends and neighbours who ask how I'm getting along with my new daughter-in-law and I always tell them, I've found my new best friend". :crying: That is so sweet.
