The in-laws from heck

OK. So instead of hijacking another thread and since we're on the subject; here goes my in-law vent. Mom & Dad in-law are fabulous peepz. Bren's brother's wife is another freaking story....

*First, "she's not coming to our wedding because she's all booked (naturopath who takes herself way too freaking seriously)"

*Second, she invites HER parents (who are as unpleasant as she is)

*Third, she graces us with her presence and shows up dressed in white....

*Fourth (this is a funny): she sits next to our gradschool buddies and proclaims herself a DOCTOR... THAT was hilarious (I wasn't sitting there but the laughter from the Chemistry department was way too loud to miss so I asked)

*Fifth she doesn't even give us a "congrats on your wedding" card - never mind a wedding gift.

Time goes by and during Christmas she sends the tackiest most un-classy gift I've ever received:

A SAFEWAY GIFT CARD.... same that I gave to a homeless girl who was my pet project back then.

I kid you not people. If that was not enough, the brother in law is whipped. No Lady Heather whipped (that's fun, ask B ); but totally and utterly daaaah  100% of the time. Rumour has it he used to be the life of the party.... now he's just... well... daaah.

OK that was my dose of being a b!tch and badmouthing other people for the day.... contributions are welcome

Argh let it all out I know how you feel!

Like i said in the other thread. I wanted to get along with mine sooo much.

Besides being rude on our wedding day....and trying to diagnose my son as ADD.

I come home yesterday and shes got a nice bag with toys in it and singing happy birthday to her dog, but never congratulated us. I mean I dont mind it if you want to celebrate your dogs birthday and all, but your son did just get married and you came into the court house acting like it was a funeral.

Now I know the meaning of monster in law. :(

*hugs Sprailenes*

We live with the in-laws for the time being so that we can save money to clear our various debts. I love my mother-in-law and she's an amazingly generous and sweet lady, but if I have to hear about how she's sick with this ailment or that pain in her whatever organ I'm going to punch my face through the wall.

She's also the one who tried to convince me, Bee, and my father-in-law that we should complain to our state senator because I was having issues finding a non-exploitative doctor to do my I-693A transcript.

Bee and I had a conversation last night about whether we should live close to the parentals so that they can help out with our future kids. My answer: "Seeing as how we won't have kids for at least 7 years... I think we need our sanity more."

Nini - Vancouver BC, Canada (she's the one who does the forum thing)

Bee - Devon PA, USA (he's the one who gave her the shiny ring)

Getting our sanity tested by bureaucracy since 2007.

Here we go again...

Nicks parents are wonderful :) They have made me feel so welcome each and every time I visit...

Although at the beginning before Nick flew up to meet me, Nick's mom said to him...

"Are you sure this isn't a scam?"

LOL yes, I'm scamming Nick for sex!!! LOL

Anyway...

My ex's parents were good to me too, although his mom was a little nuts....overall, I haven't done too bad.

I've heard some horror stories though....

Len, yours sounds insane...w t f...who wears all white to a wedding??!?! and no gift or even a card??? COME ON!

No shite sister.... but maybe she thought she made up for the faux pas by sending the highly appreciated SAFEWAY CARD???????

Indeed, some people have no class. And class cannot -repeat, cannot- be bought/borrowed.

Sara's brother lived with us for awhile. He was jobless and broke and needed help surviving so we let him live with us. He didn't pay rent as promised when he got his job so after 2 months we couldn't afford to live where we were so we left.

When all was said and done he owed us $800 for various things, then tried to tell us to f-off etc and yelled at Sara on the phone. Total moron beyond words.

I cant say I have any problems with my future in-laws. They've both welcomed me with open arms. My future mother-in-law already told me that if I didn't marry her son, she was going to legally adpot me as her daughter  Yep, I'm loved ;)

As for my fiancees brothers, well I don't care for them at all. His oldest brother has a family of his own, yet he expects his mother to take his kids to school everyday, cause he doesnt want them taking the school bus, help him with his bills every Friday and gawd, the list goes on. Basically takes advantage of his mother in every way he can. Then theres the other brother. Hes in and out of jail every month and he has a 10 year old son who he barely cares for until it comes time for defax to come take him away.

Well I could go on and on about those 2. I'm just glad I fell in love with the best son.

Mary

my mom had a really bad mother-in-law who basically shunned my mom and us kids...

Wow! My biggest ###### with Claudeth parents is they expect us to support them. I know it is the culture but no one told them to have seven kids

My mother and my husband don't get along (haha thats my first time calling him my husband) to the point where my mom isn't going to coming to my wedding. Its fine though. He thinks shes nuts...I do too, but hey, shes my mom and I love her.

With my MIL I felt like we did get along up until a few days ago...then she turned into a monster in law.

My fiance is baffled about her behaviour too.

We think the doctors may have changed her zoloft prescription or something.

We have no ideas. Hopefully its a phase and will pass.
