That's a little under 2 months for them to process your AP, which is a little short but not impossible.

What you can do if there is no sign of your AP coming in time is schedule an InfoPass appointment at your local office and ask if they can expedite it.

Also, if you have a permanent address in the States where they will mail you stuff, you could conceivably just leave the US without AP on the assumption that you will get it. It will get approved at some point, and whoever is there in the US to receive it should be able to mail it to you in the Caribbean in the safest possible way...

Note I am not suggesting you to do that. It's a huge risk, obviously. But it's a possibility if you're feeling lucky and if you really have to go.

Asking USCIS to expedite the processing of your AP is a lot more reasonable and usually is successful based on what I've read here.

Hi welcome to VJ. One resource to check are the September and October AOS filers threads. Click on Forums, scroll down to Adjustment of Status (Green Card) General Discussion...then click on the Sept, Oct and even Nov. filers threads....most people post IF they applied for Advanced Parole....which, hopefully you submitted forms for when you sent your AOS package (since the fee now includes that benefit, while you await the outcome of your petition)....and they typically post when their AP comes through.

Just below that Forum is one dedicated to people looking forward to their EAD (work permits) and AP (travel documents). Bast to check both!

While, the "trend" in the last 2-3 months is for people to get their AP in 30-45 days....USCIS can have unexpected slow downs...for no apparent reason!!

There's always the possibility of making an InfoPass appt. at your nearest local application support center if the date of your departure gets close and you've not heard anything yet....just to find out what they recommend.

If you haven't already, I'd suggest registering on the USCIS website once you've gotten your NOA1 for your AOS, that way you'll (likely....updates can be slow in coming)....be able to see if there's been any action on your case.

Cheers

What exactly is an InfoPass apointment?

Also, does everyone have an interview, me and my parents are being sponsered by my sister who is a US citizen?

Not everyone has a interview. Lots of peeps whos applications were transfered to CSC got by without one.

It's a ####### shoot whether you have one or not!

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

NO, NO, NO,NO, NO - this is bad advice! Please do not follow it unless you wish to find yourself denied re-entry to the States and told that you had abandoned your AOS! You HAVE to have the AP approved and in your hand BEFORE you leave the US in order to use the AP. If you leave without it, you will not be allowed back and your application will be considered abandoned. When you apply to re-enter, they will know the date you left the country and know it is before the AP was approved.

So, you are left with the option of making an Infopass appointment, bringing all of the evidence of your need to be outside of the US and hope that they will consider that enough of an emergency to grant you an immediate AP. If not, then you are left approaching the school and asking them for an extension of your start date. If you choose to leave the US without your AP you will have to start over again with a K-3 or CR-1 application for when you have completed your medical studies and are are prepared to return to the US.

Then make an infopass with your local immigration office when you get closer to the time you expect to leave. Bring with you all of your documentation about your studies and hopefully, your case will be favourably considered.
