I think you can never have too much evidence.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

This is really one of the easier thing to do out of all their other requirements.

I really don't understand why this is such an issue.

How hard is it to ask couple of friends to sign a letter and notarized it?

Because, being the internet geeks that we are (at least Terry and I, that's how we met), and psycho bogged down with the three kids, it's hard to come up with one or two or three adults that actually know BOTH of us and HAVE known us for the duration of our marriage!

It's been discussed (particularly by me) ad nauseam here: an affidavit is not simply a letter signed by your friends and notarized. It's a particular kind of legal document. The instructions ask for a sworn affidavit to boot, so there has to be an indication in the affidavit that the notary has administered an oath.

I posted an example affidavit here. I would not use anything else if I were including an affidavit. ("Customs" in the USCIS title at the top of the example needs to be changed to "Citizenship," though.)

Meh

Organizers - please DO NOT move this to General Polls - this poll is specifically for people removing conditions.

Oops - the last question should have been multiple choice.

What about "I didn't/did include affidavits and am still waiting for approval"? That would seem to fit most people who are active in this forum. I had to pick N/A.

I have to totally agree with James on this one and it seems that VJers have misconstrued exactly what USCIS is asking for. A sworn affidavit is NOT a notarized letter.

Having said that though, my friends and family here actually asked me if they could write in support of my application...so I gladly accepted their offer...but I didn't have the letters notarized because there was no point. I feel that if you want to include letters then it might add to your evidence, but I really don't feel it would make or break your case.

So what if you include a notarized letter instead of a sworn statement?

It's still evidence of sorts, isn't it?
