Again, thank you everyone, you are all so helpful.

What about being a Naturopath? Is that a demanded profession?

Mine on PEI is book solid.. very hard to get an appointment..

However if you are looking to be in AB to be near your friends might want to check on where the schools are.. looks like the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine is in Toronto.

Excuse my ignorance, but, PEI?

Thank you! I will look at that school. Do you think when I obtained a license they'd allow me to stay in Canada? Or is that skill not in high enough demand?

Look if you are going to be an honourary Canadian.. then you better learn about Canada's smallest Province http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Edward_Island :protest:

Just kidding...

I'm not sure about where Naturopathic Dr's fit in as far as skills Canada wants.. I do know they are not as accepted by the mainstream as "true" Dr's as here in the US.. Someone else here may know!

Personally, I can't bring myself to believe that this is anything more than a windup.

Eh, even if it was it is still providing info... plus it's not unheard of for people to want to move to Canada. I know of a couple who did actually move from CA to WA with British Columbia as their end goal. One of the pair ended up being inadmissible though due to past criminal convictions.

If your calling is to be a naturopath, why not fire off an email to the CIC to check out if they consider this to be in high demand and immigration worthy, good luck.

Are you sure you want to relocate to Calgary? It's 41 degrees, overcast and it just snowed a bit :hehe:

For being a student in Canada you need to FIRST be admitted to a school (for a credited program duration more than 6 months). SECOND you need to prove that you will support yourself somehow while studying and apply for a study permit from the US -without these 2 items you will NOT get the permit. Once in Canada as a student, you can work on-campus (and off-campus in some provinces). Once you graduate, you can apply for a post-graduation work permit for 1 to 2 years as long as you remain in the province you studied in; and do work in your area.

As per Naturopathy goes: my sister in law (aka the B!tch) actually went to school in Seattle (she is and lives in Calgary) and apparently she is "always" booked... but then again, she also thinks she's pretty.

If this is a windup.... you don't want to know.

Good luck, L.

Thankfully I haven't actually seen her in over a year and I ignored the last email and phone call from her where she as saying something about how to snag a younger man...

Everyone, I have to thank you SO MUCH.

Krikit, [i love your name], it is most certainly not a windup, not idle talk, not wishful thinking, not on whim, ect... If you did it yourself, why would you believe I myself am creating some form of fantasm to share on a forum I discovered whilst researching this very topic?

As I stated, since I was of a very young age I have wanted to move to Canada [bC, actually, whoever mentioned the CA couple that moved there, RIGHT ON!] I have talked consistently about it with my peers and elders, and most have been very supportive - until my MCS came.

I appreciate the support of the others on this forum. You are all so kind - sometimes on the days where this illness overtakes me, I think my dream/goal is unattainable, but its the kind words you all provide that keep me going that next step.

If anyone has anymore information they are willing to provide at anytime, I would be so grateful to receive it. I will be writing the CIC today!

.. Prince Edward Island. Got it. Thank you!

.. And Laura and Nick, thank you for your best wishes. It means much more to me than you know.

By the way, Len_and_Bren, by any chance, was that school in Seattle called Bastyr?

Mostly because you're asking for Canadian immigration information on a US immigration site. That, and a few other things.

No other site has been as helpful as this one ;)
