You can come and go once you endorse your CR1 visa at point of entry, you don't need the actual green card to do so. They say it takes about 4 weeks for the green card to arrive, we've waited that long and still haven't received it.

05/03/07 - NOA2

05/10/07 - NVC receives petition, case # assigned

08/08/07 - Case Complete

09/27/07 - Interview, visa granted

10/02/07 - POE

11/16/07 - Received green card and Welcome to America letter in the mail

Removing Conditions

07/06/09 - I-751 sent to CSC

08/14/09 - Biometrics

09/27/09 - Approved

10/01/09 - Received 10 year green card

U.S. Citizenship

03/30/11 - N-400 sent via Priority Mail w/ delivery confirmation

05/12/11 - Biometrics

07/20/11 - Interview - passed

07/20/11 - Oath ceremony - same day as interview

As soon as you arrive the officer at POE should stamp passport with I-551 stamp making your passport into a temporary green-card allowing work and travel.

The actual card arrives a few weeks later.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Thanks so much for the replies. I have interview coming up on 15 November and wanted to plan flights etc so that I have freedom to travel out of USA once arriving there. So good to know. THank you.

Good luck on your interview. :thumbs: I got here May 2 and my GC arrived May 24 (3 weeks).

02 March 2010 - Check encashed/I-797C NOA

03 March 2010 - USCIS Acceptance Confirmation via e-mail and text message

06 March 2010 - received I-797C, Notice of Action/Receipt

01 April 2010 - Biometrics Appointment (Biometrics done 4/7/10)

27 April 2010 - received I-797C/ Request to Appear for Naturalization Interview

02 June 2010 - Interview schedule

17 June 2010 - Oath Taking (Memorial Auditorium, Sacramento, CA)
