Wishing all a Happy Easter...that isn't just about bunny's and eggs but also about the sacrifice of Jesus for our sake and his resurrection!

“ I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, ”- 1 Corinthians 15:1, 3-4

The Death of Jesus

Mark 15: 37-38

37With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last.

38The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. 39And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, heard his cry and saw how he died, he said, "Surely this man was the Son of God!"

The Resurrection

Luke 24

1On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' " 8Then they remembered his words.

*I'd ask that anyone who only wants to start conflict in this thread either doesn't continue reading, or tries to be peaceful as I am not expecting everyone to believe in what is stated but I still want to make this thread for those who do believe...just as there have been thread sfor other religions' holidays on VJ that were able to stay peaceful. *

Have a Wonderful Weekend!! :)

Hear the bells ringing, they're singing that you can be born again

Here the bells ringing, they're singing Christ is risen from the dead

The angels up on the tombstone

Said He has risen, just as He said

Quickly now, go tell his disciples

That Jesus Christ is no longer dead

Joy to the word, He has risen, hallelujah

He's risen, hallelujah

He's risen, hallelujah

-Easter Song (A Cappella)

El - Shaddai, El - Shaddai

El - Elyon na Adonai

Age to age you're still the same

By the power of your name

El - Shaddai, El - Shaddai

Erkamka na Adonai

We will praise and lift you high

El - Shaddai

Through your love and through the ram

You saved the son of Abraham

Through the power of Your hand

You turned the sea into dry land

To the outcast on her knees

You were the God who really sees

And by Your might You set Your children free

(oh God almighty)

Through the years you made it clear

That the time of Christ was near

Though the people couldn't see

What Messiah ought to be

Though your Word contained the plan

They just could not understand

Your most awesome work was done

Through the frailty of your Son

Hallelu, mighty God

We will praise you until we die

El - Shaddai

El - Shaddai

-El-Shaddai, A Cappella

Christ the Lord is risen today! Hallelujah! A blessed Easter to everyone.

Don't let the sunshine spoil your rain...just stand up and COMPLAIN!

I obviously don't believe but I wish those who do the best! :)

*I know you asked those who don't believe not to post on this thread but I figured since I'm being nice you could make an exception for me :P

:) no, I didn't mean that exactly...people can post who don't believe! I just meant those who would, for a kick, come in and say "Jesus didn't die for our sins..." or whatever else just to be irritating. :star:

anyone is welcome I just ask that it not turn into a debate thread :)

I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4You know the way to the place where I am going."

Happy Easter ..to my Christian brothers and sisters..................dean

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Alleluia! Alleluia!

Thank you for beginning such an uplifting thread!

Happy Easter to all! Blessed be God now and forever!

Easter

Hope has sprung forth from the depths of the night;

As one, come together to welcome the light.

People unite and blissfully sing

Praises that soar like a bird on the wing;

Yea, joyfully gather as the church bells ring.

Easter is here and spring fills the air;

A feeling of joy has replaced despair.

Sing out in glory of love now renewed;

Throughout all the Earth let peace be imbued.

Everyone yearns for the way to freedom;

Rejoice for within you will find the kingdom

another great song about this weekend:

Down the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem that day

The soldiers tried to clear the narrow street

But the crowd pressed in to see

The Man condemned to die on Calvary

He was bleeding from a beating, there were stripes upon His back

And He wore a crown of thorns upon His head

And He bore with every step

The scorn of those who cried out for His death

Down the Via Dolorosa called the way of suffering

Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King,

But He chose to walk that road out of

His love for you and me.

Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary.

The blood that would cleanse the souls of all men

Made its way to the heart of Jerusalem.

Down the Via Dolorosa called the way of suffering

Like a lamb came the Messiah, Christ the King

But He chose to walk that road out of His love for you and me

Down the Via Dolorosa, all the way to Calvary.

stina... *hugs*

Thank you so much for starting this thread. Today is a very emotional day for me. Not only will I be celebrating the resurrection of my Savior, Jesus Christ.... I will also be remembering my mother. She died one year ago TODAY.

I would like to add one of my favorite scriptural verses to this thread... I have so many favorite verses... lol

1 Peter 1:3

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead... (NIV)

My wish and prayer for all of you this Easter weekend... is that you will be blessed... and loved.

*hugs to you all*

What a wonderful and uplifting thread :luv:

Here is my favorite Easter story/poem. It is kind of long...sorry :blush:

The Easter Story

Jesus came to compensate

For all the wrongs we do.

He came to earth to die for us,

So we’d be born anew.

"This bitter cup, let it pass from me,"

He cried, in a plaintive voice;

"Yet not My will, but Thine be done;"

He said, in His faithful choice.

The Judas kiss would seal his fate;

He faced a hostile crowd;

The governor, Pilate, saw through it all;

Jesus’ guilt he disavowed.

"I wash my hands of all of this,"

Said Pilate, "Let Him be."

But the crowd yelled "Crucify him now,

And set Barabbas free!"

Pilate yielded to their wish;

And Jesus was led away.

The soldiers beat him, and mocked Him, too,

Yet He continued to obey.

A crown of thorns lay on His head,

As His sentence was carried out;

His hands and feet were pierced with nails,

But He did not scream or shout.

"Father, forgive them for this crime;

They know not what they do."

He said this despite His torment, because,

He was thinking of me and you.

"It is finished," he sighed in His anguish and pain,

As His body gave up to death.

The curtain tore, and darkness fell,

After He took His last breath.

The best of the story is the very last part;

It’s why on Easter we’re filled with pleasure:

Death could not our Savior hold;

His power is beyond all measure.

He rose from the grave, and was seen all around;

Ever since, He’s inspired devotion,

And we’ll be with Him for eternity,

When we get our heavenly promotion.

That’s why Easter is a major event:

He suffered and died in our place.

He rose and forgave us and loves us still,

Our Savior of matchless grace.
