i had a request from a large client company//to go over to the site as they are announcing the closing of a facility that will effect probably 700 workers..it is in the production arena and the company has other interests...and want to sell the site./..but, no takers so far..been trying for a year..anyway, i drove 65 one way..miles one way...hung out..no one wanted to talk or kill anyone..that was good news...

so, i am leaving to go for the midnight shift and then the day shift tomorrow'..

i could have stayed in a motel..paid for by my company or theres..but i rather be home for a few hours hanging out with sanita..the digs..cats..groundhogs..burros..raccoons opossums etc,.....it sometimes better to drive and unwind before one goes back to their own problems and life...i have did this type of work longing than some of you have walk on this planet..and still do it, when allot of my college friends..burned-out and move on...

i make light out of thiis but it is not...people 30 years.on the job..most over 10 years..job gone and they are skilled in only this area..living in a town they grew up in ..population 10,000 and no jobs around...

i do this often..sometimes..when someone dies in an auto accident or is killed..suicide or had 4 murders...i staffed with the employees..other stuff...some too tragic to write about..anyway..time to go...and grab a bite and drive too meet up with the boys of the midnight shift and watch them stare in space trying to ingest the news....lost in their personal thoughts..

just a brief personal journal note for my sisters and brothers...

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Wow...I can't imagine myself in such a situation. It seems so hopeless. :( I've thought that if by chance my profession goes overseas, I'd consider becoming an RN...some kind of field where I know I'm needed. But I know for many people, they don't have that opportunity. :( ...sigh...

you are correct on that brother stevie..this guys have a skill that is unique and they be lucky to find a job in illinois ..much less, another state...

i know the thought, my friend, juli, just finished her RN education and waiting to take the state boards..

now, this job did not go over-seas at all..it cannot ...it is based on natural resources of this country..but the corp. is wanting to drop out of this market..and concentrate on other ventures..i hope they can sell off the site ...

I'm a RN student now and thats one reason why I went this route--lots of jobs!! Was originally going the paramedic route, BUT more need for RN's! Plus wife can move a round with her job, so require a job that is easily transferable, RN fits the bill.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Hopefully I will never have to go that route, I've been working professionally in animation for almost 10 years, but if things start looking bleak - I'd definitely consider a profession that will provide me with job security, mobility, and a livable wage.:yes:
