Hey! I remember you!

Only place I know of in Illinois that does fish n chips is in Chicago on the north side. sorry.

Have you tried making it yourself? From what my Jonny tells me it's just beer with self raising flour, then you use the same oil you fried the fish in to fry the chips. I haven't tried it myself, my traditional first meal after arriving in England is always fish n chips from the local shop by the house so I'm saving myself for that :D

Life long Texan, living in Hull, UK. How did this happen?

4 February - Became a couple

17 March - I went to Hull to meet the guy

20 March - First "I love you"

25 March - I go home :(

16 November - He comes to visit me in Texas

25 November - he leaves back home :(

14 December - ENGAGED! <3

1 March- I fly off to see my babe in Hull

4 April - I go home :(

9 October - He comes back to Texas!!!!

13 October - WEDDING!!!

22 October - He goes back to England and I continue to wait for my settlement visa.

13 December 2007 - Move to England

Now the wait begins, I will become a citizen then we will DFC back to the US.

Plenty of Fish n' Chips in New England. I get them all the time. So if you're willing to drive...

I miss fish n chips too. Can't find any around here to save my life, and its usually one of the first things I do when I get home for a visit. I have a long list of foods I have to pig out on when I go home because I can't get them here

Sorry, no idea where in or around Illinois you'd find 'em. Unless you want to to drive up to Canada.

If ur ever in Victoria Canada, check out Barbs fish n chips on the waterfront, YummY!! Hope you enjoy standing in line,it's a pretty popular place

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

mmmmmmmmm fish and chips!

Congrats on removing your conditions! Must feel great to be at this point!

Not sure where you can buy some good fish in chips as I am in NC. But we make ours a couple times a year.

Like someone else mentioned I use flour and beer only ohh and cod of course! Recently I've see some very nice frozen peices of cod in our grocery store. Smaller then a chippy fish but not bad.

I hate to admit it but I did use frozen chips the last time I made them. Steak fries they were called. They were decent enough.

Hey we are going back to England at the beginning of Dec. We'll send some to you! :):star:

G & I had some great fish & chips at the Elephant & Castle in Chicago. He said they were as good as the ones from home. They do have a website, so if you google it, you can find them! Not sure how much of a drive that is, but not only will you get some pretty authentic English food, you get the great city that is Chicago too!!! I hope you are successful in your quest!!!

Yeah, come up to Chicago....

Elephant & Castle is pretty good, but we go to a great pub owned and run by some Brit expats and ALL of their Brit traditional fare is authentic...bangers (real English bangers) & mash, English/Irish bacon, shepherd's pie, steak & ale pie, chips (real chips) with curry sauce, AND fish n' chips.... GOOD STUFF!

His reply: Fish n Chips........mmmmm mmmmm.......lol. I was like you cheeky little &*$# LOL.....

Then he sent me this pic:
