Khallid was given the paper (221g) when his interview was over. On the bottom of the page the is an area checked that said administrative process.

Was that the only thing that was checked? I asked Moh and he swears the only thing they marked was that they needed to see a copy of my lease. I told him to bring the paper with him tomorrow so we can check it again together. This is what I was wondering.

Thanks darlin! AND YOU HANG IN THERE. One day over and another day closer!

I'd imagine since that is the only thing checked, then you don't have much to worry about except their slow processing of the lease. Good luck (F)

Ladies your emails on what is going on with your cases is more than we get from Pakistan.

This case is in administrative processing. We will contact your husband once it completes.

If you ask questions no replies at all.

Yours is only marked for a lease Jean so that is good. All mine says is it is in Administrative Processing.

Everything I respond to is from personal knowledge, research or experience and I am in no means a lawyer or do I claim to be one. Everyone should read, research and be responsible for your own journey.

You know, this is something that just galls me. After I have Moh here and all the nasty paperwork settled, I would like to really become active in pursuing immigration reform (yeah I'm a coward... I want him here first) in any way I can.

I realize each country is unique in its social and political structure and that presents each embassy with unique situations, but there should STILL be a set standard each embassy should follow and be kept accountable for. I realize there IS, but the accountability thing obviously falls way short. I don't want to hear drivel such as "no operating money". The government always has ways of finding it for pet projects such as wars (not going there). This process is inhumane. Our country was founded by immigrants, and this should be something we are very savvy with. But its obvious that there are HUGE problems to be addressed.

A coworker spoke the startling truth to me yesterday. "All these honest people going through all this paperwork and waiting and pain... and the terrorists always walk right in." There is a hideous truth to that. I do realize that the embassies are able to screen out some of the "baddies"... those with less honest intentions... but the wait times involved are ridiculous.

I don't know how you manage, really. I think of you often and if that helps lend you support, you are always in my prayers. I really sincerely hope each one of us can find the positive in our experiences when the dust settles and that all are reunited with those they love and cherish.

Whew. Enough soap boxing for me!

I know you feel like the terrorist always gets through, but rest assured this due diligence our government is doing does work. We just don't hear about it because they don't broadcast it when they catch a terrorist on his way in the door. I went to an import/export conference Monday and Tuesday this week and the customs guy who spoke, as well as some other speakers from government agencies, gave us examples of things they've caught at our ports.

I know this process is very frustrating, but think about it, have we had another 9/11? Do you think it's because the terrorists quit trying? You should have seen the pictures of weapons customs showed that they confiscated right here in Savannah at our port that were coming in from a guy whose website advertised that he supplied arms to mercenaries. They even caught someone trying to import Russian war helicopters, still armed!

I also have to use a website at work to screen potential vendors that we want to work with on government contracts. I don't see the major lists that the FBI uses, just the ones of those who have violated import/export laws. These sites do use a phonetic screening, and I'm sure that is what is causing so many delays for some of you. Unfortunately if a bad guys name even sounds like your man's name, even if it's spelled completely differently, it can raise flags. I know the system and the waiting suck and I really do wish we didn't have to do this stuff.

All I can say is that when you get frustrated and think it's all for nothing, please know that it isn't.

I just knew my statement would end up setting someone off kilter. Yes I am aware that the government does manage filter out the vast majority. I read about the "visa papers" of 2 of the 9/11 terrorists. They were utterly illegible, the photos didn't match and there wasn't even an interview. They found "other ways" to get around the system. It's not a perfect world. That's all I was really trying to say.

I know. I wasn't off kilter. I was just trying to say that even though it's frustrating it is for a reason. If we had been this cautious before 9/11 it wouldn't have happened. In 1999 I was able to walk into the Moroccan consulate, do a DCF after only being in-country for less than a week, and get my then husband here in less than a month. Our papers there were all hand-written since we did them in the hotel room. It really is sad that we had to go through 9/11 before we started being cautious.

Wow, it was that easy that recently? I knew that it was more difficult post 9/11, but that's the difference between night and day it seems!

When I was on the plane home from my first trip to Egypt, I was moping around and looking at the pictures we took. The egyptian guy next to me noticed and told me his story. He met an american doctor while they were both working in Greece in the 1970s. They got married and hopped on a plane back to the US. When they got there, she said, that's my husband. They said welcome to America, stamped his passport and he was in. He got his greencard soon there after.

Knowing the difficulties of the impending visa process in 2003, his story didn't cheer me up at all.

I didn't mean to start something. Yeah it is hard to swallow what we are going through knowing the changes imposed, but it all has its purpose. Stay strong.

221g is a blanket statement. although you only are requested one piece of proof. normally

once you turn in this proof. your AP/AR will begin. they normally dont begin it til the proof is given. 221g

is a TEMP denial. the embassy has to give you someting. if they cant issue the visa right away. they give you 221g. ( we more information ).

It seems Mohammed has lost his 221g. Is this going to pose any problems in the future? I had asked him to check and see if AR had been indicated and now I guess we'll never know. I emailed the Embassy almost a week ago regarding what happens next but have been blown off thus far. This is the first time they've gone without replying to an email after a day or 2. I'm a wee bit nervous again.
