NOA Finally arrived today!!!!

Does anyone have any idea how long it will take to get the letter with the Biometrics appointment?

got mine a week after NOA1 arrived. my biometrics is within 2 weeks after notice date.

DON & SADIE

our story, basically (from Celine Dion's song:

Don't know much about your life.

Don't know much about your world, but

Don't want to be alone tonight,

On this planet they call earth.

You don't know about my past, and

I don't have a future figured out.

And maybe this is going too fast.

And maybe it's not meant to last,

But what do you say to taking chances,

What do you say to jumping off the edge?

Never knowing if there's solid ground below

Or hand to hold, or hell to pay,

What do you say,

What do you say?

Oh yeah it is love at first sight.

so far, our sweet and short timeline:

10/29 I-130, I-485, I-765 sent

11/06 I-130, I-485 and I-765 touched

11/07 checks cashed

11/09 NOA1 for I-485, I-765 and I-130

11/29 Biometrics

11/18 RFE1

12/18 Mailed response to RFE1

12/21 I-485 touched

01/23 I-765 touched

01/31 EAD card received

now applying for SSN...

Mailed AOS Nov. 6th

They received it Nov. 8th

We got the return receipt Nov. 14

I'm more nervous now than I was during the K1 process.

If I cause offense it is not on purpose, think about that before you take offense. If you feel offended, consider that maybe I'm not talking about you and maybe I accidentally stumbled onto a sore area and do not know. Thank you.

We received biometrics appt letter this past week, we are to go to the USCIS Glenmont  This was not on the pull-down list of USCIS local offices on the timeline page. Yesterday we drove past the address, and sure enough, there is a USCIS local office there :D only a few blocks away from where Nid is taking her ESOL class. Her class ends mid-Dec, so we are hoping her EAD will come real soon.

We were married nov.3rd. Ilyana's K-1 visa expires nov. 20th , and her 90 days in the country is nov.30th. We haven't sent the I-485 yet. I know we have to send one for her 16 year old daughter too, but do we have to pay the 1000 dollar fee for her as well? The "FAQ" are not exactly clear about it. To me anyway.

I haven't been preparing for the rest of the process much since she got here. Now the state of "out of status" is getting near. Should I really be afraid of taking a couple more months to file?

I can only respond you from my own experience and from what I read while browsing visajourney.

I know that I paid 600 $ for my daugther, but she is 4. Here's a quote from uscis site: "Filing Fee :

$930 plus a biometrics fee of $80; the fee total is $1,010. Exceptions listed below. There is no fee for applicants who are filing Form I-485 based on having been admitted to the United States as a refugee. Applicants 79 years of age or older are not charged a biometric fee; the fee total is $930. Applicants under 14 years of age: - Filing with the I-485 application of at least one parent have a fee total of $600 - Not filing with the I-485 application of at least one parent have a fee total of $930 "

So, it appears that you would have to pay the same amount (1,010 $) for your step daughter as well.

As for the time frame, the requirement is that your wife got married within the 90 days timeframe, not to adjust in the same time as well. I suggest you browse visa journey, the AOS forum, there have been lots of topics like this, and the idea that I got was that yes, you can wait with the AOS, even after the visa expires. That is, if you are willing to wait for her getting a job and travelling. It might be tough for her just to sit and wait :)

We're hopefully November filers. We sent out papers out today Nov 20th. Too bad Thanksgiving is upon us in a few days, so nothing will happen all week, I'm sure :( So if need be, we'll be moving to/starting a December thread
