EAD card arrived today!

This picture on it sure doesn't look good.

 That's exactly what I thought when I got mine too. If I didn't know it was me I'm not sure I'd know who it was.

But at least you got the EAD!!! Congratulations!!!

Hahaha the picture on my AP doesn't look good either, but at least it resembles me even more than my passport (which I don't think looks like me LOL,) even though I look grumpy in the picture, and am never really grumpy. LOL! I'll probably think the same thing about the picture when I get my EAD in the mail. ;)

Received EAD card today, but it is dated January 23rd, the same day as my AP! Even though they said the card production was ordered January 31, and then again February 5th, and that the notice was sent February 7... weird... apparently, I could have been working since January 23rd. lol

The card is kinda cool... we loved the little fingerprint and miniature signature! I can't write that small! haha

I just got back into the US by using my AP papers after visiting my family in Canada last week. It was really easy going into Canada - they didn't even ask me anything except why I was coming to Canada. I was nervous about coming back into the states but it was pretty straight forward. I had my marriage certificate and a photocopy of my AP document as well as my passport and the 2 AP originals. I showed my AP documents to the border guy before he even asked because I didn't want problems or confusion. He put my information into the computer and then told me to go to this other waiting room. Once there I sat until my name was called (about 10 minutes) and the next border guy confirmed who I was and took my 2 AP papers with my passport. He had me fill out a new I-94 form which he later stapled into my passport. I then sat down for another 15 minutes or so and he called me up again. He had trouble finding me in the system and I said I had my marriage certificate if he needed it (with my new married name). He said he didn't need it and that he eventually found me. He then explained that he was giving only one of the papers back as the other stayed there. He said that I needed to be careful to bring that one AP original back with me every time I crossed back into the states or they wouldn't let me in - so don't let anyone have it. I had been approved for my adjustment of status while in Canada and I said that to him. He said he saw that and explained that I didn't need my AP documents to travel once I got that green card. He also said that I needed to bring that one AP original and the green card the next time I crossed the border so I can hand that last AP document in. He said it wasn't for my files or anything and that I couldn't keep it if I had the green card. He was very informative and very nice about it all. It took an extra 25 minutes or so and because it was at the airport, I was worried about missing my flight but I made it. If you travel outside the US, make sure to leave yourself plenty of time upon returning especially if you are catching a plane. Also, make sure you bring BOTH AP documents with you - strange, I know, but I needed both. Happy travels!
