What exactly happens during biometrics? Can we go earlier? Ok I'm going to do a search; I'm sure this has been answered already

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you can go early

for us we were there one hour early and the thing is we dont have to wait for our turn to come..................they checked the passport and the letter and gave us the ticket number and we waited for almost like 30-45 minutes as some of the people were already there...............i think its better if you go early.................may be not too early but 1-2 hrs might be reasonable time............

you will be done in less than 5-10 minutes and will be ready to leave................

for us only driving time suks....................it was more than 2 hrs drive.................

Thanks! Okay, that's great to know because my appointment is at 11 but my husband is supposed to be at work already at that time. So, hopefully he can just drive me in earlier!

We finally received the biometric appointment letter...only a week too late.

Ozzy's appointment was scheduled for December 4th, but when they sent the notice, they didn't specify our apartment number on the envelope, so the letter was returned as undeliverable.

They did send instructions (with this current letter) on how to request a new appointment, so I am taking care of that today. I hope it doesn't take too long to get back in line...our case is on hold until we have this taken care of.

Hello all, I received the 3 NOA today, waiting now for the Biometrics appointment

I had the biometrics done today, which went smoothly and fast, while the driving was 3 hours to get to the ASC and also a 45 minute wait.

We got there about 20 minutes early. After showing my appointment letter and passport (those were all needed) to an officer at the counter, I was given a form to fill out and then submit. She checked the filled form and gave it back to me along with my passport. I was also told to have a seat and wait to be called by name (no ticket number given). As I got called 45 minutes later, I again submitted the form and passport to the officer who called me. What he did was the fingerprints and picture taking, which took about 15 minutes.

There is nothing to be worried about really for the biometrics. Just remember to take with you your appointment letter and passport. You will need your case number(s) and A# to fill in the form. If you don't bring other documents with you, the former is already on your appointment letter and the latter is also written on your passport.

Did my biometrics in Atlanta today. Got there 10 min before my scheduled appointment and there was a long line outside the building. Neither cellphones nor purses were allowed inside. Fortunately I had read here and knew to bring a copy of my Marriage Certificate. One girl in line had to go back home to get hers because the name on the letter and her ID didn't match.

After about 20 minutes I was let in but my husband had to wait outside in the rain (despite tons of free chairs inside). Once inside I had to stand in line again for about 15 min to get the form to fill out. After doing so I got my number and could sit down and wait for another 20 minutes or so before getting my photo and fingerprints taken which took about 5 minutes.

In all it was pretty painless and the people were very nice but it was way too much waiting, especially knowing my husband was outside in the rain though he apparently had a great time. He was outside trying to help people keep dry offering them room underneath his umbrella.
