Hi everyone,

I was just wandering if it is hard to re-schedule the Biometrics appointment? What if you are on vacation when they schedule it? Or do you get a choice when you can get it done? Just curious....

Thanks,

If you know you're not gonna be able to make it to the appointment on the date and time specified, try going earlier, in many cases they will let you in. So if your appointment was at 3:00 and you weren't available at 3, but you were available at 1 or 2, well, try going at 1 or 2. If you're just not available on that day, try going before that day.

That's only a good solution if you live close enough to the office that you can afford not to be let in, though.

But as far as actually rescheduling it through the usual channels, I can't help.

When you get your biometrics appt letter, it'll tell you howto reschedule it. Basically you send a letter to an address on that letter saying you need to reschedule. You also include the original appt letter.

My wife was out of the country at the time and her appt was for Sep 22. She was coming back Sep 29, so I wrote a letter (pretending to be her) and said I can't make the biometrics appointment and to please schedule for something on or after October 1st and sent the original appointment letter along (I made a copy just in case) and they came back with a new date (oct 2nd) within a week.

Good luck

We received our letter and the date for the appointment was not amenable to us ... we would be on vacation at the time. We printed the itinerary and went to the office and told them our predicament. They told us that they would be able to process us that day. We told them that we couldn't do it that day and if we could do it tomorrow. They approved of this.

Go to the office and ask them if you could do it right away. You might get lucky.

Thanks everyone.....We haven't got anything yet, but we are expecting it soon. We are going on a vacation in a couple of weeks and with the timelines here on VJ it looks like it is a good possibility that it could be scheduled for that time. We will see though....

Than-x,

My husband's original biometrics appt was scheduled for Oct. 22, but we were on our honeymoon at that time. The day after we received the appt letter in the mail, we mailed a letter to request a new date but never heard back from USCIS Jacksonville. When we returned home, we called the MIS-information line and were told to wait 90 days for a letter in the mail!! (I told my husband before he called that that would be the response!!) But, because what I read here, we took our chances and went to the USCIS Office yesterday with a copy of the appt notice and letter to reschedule and told the guards that we called and were told to come by to have his biometrics done because we were out of town on the original date. (Okay so we bent the truth a little!!) They told us they only do make-up appts on Wednesdays and to come back tomorrow. So we went early this morning and got his biometrics done. The whole process took only 20 min.!! Thanks to all who responded to this thread. We would have been waiting at home for a letter that would have never come in the mail!!
